Accents vary by region. First off, if you live in a region, you think that whatever accent you speak in is "normal talk". Whereas everyone else has an accent. In other words, the way people talk in New Jersey sounds normal to you and the way people talk in the midwest or down south sounds like they have an accent. On the other side of the coin, if you were to ask someone from the midwest about the midwest accent, they would think they talk normal and that people from New Jersey have an accent. No opinion on Jersey, never been there.

Yes, they do, and I think it's just a little twisted sounding, but in a good way. It's interesting to me. Almost like a New York accent. I live in the South and thought I always sounded normal too, until I lived in CA for a while and people seemed to either think my accent was cute or really different/annoying.

Sure New Jersey people have an accent to people from other states. Just like you think people from Texas have accents if you have ever heard a Texan talk you know what I mean.

You should not allow the "guidos" on Jersey Shore to shape your impression of... the Jersey accent? Sounds silly enough. I'm a Jersey girl, born and raised, and I don't even talk as annoyingly as they do!

EVERYWHERE has an accent. The New Jersey accent is similar to a New York accent. It just stands to reason that two regions that share a close geographical location will also share common linguistic characteristics.

To southerners, a southern dialect sounds normal. In England, English accents sound normal. To either of those groups, people from New Jersey would have some sort of accent.
I'm from Boston. I don't have the typical Boston accent-- I pronounce my "R"s. But to me, it doesn't sound that weird if someone drops her or his "R"s. "I pahhked the cahh in Hahhvahhd Yahhd."

Depends which part of NJ you are in. Northern NJ has a mostly NYC accent, while Southern Jersey is more of a Philadelphia/Wilmington twang.

Yes, people from Jersey have an accent. I can't really decribe it, but they do. Just like southerners. Heck, everyone has an accent, it's just that if you live in that area, then the accent sounds "normal". I am in Missouri and have had comments on my accent before. It's wuite amusing really.

Southern NJ has a different accent than Northern NJ. Only a handful of people that are very close to NY speak with that stereotypical NJ accent. "Youse guys" type of talk. I never actually met anyone who talks like that. I live in NJ close to Philly and we say things like "wudder" for water, and we have our own contraction, "Jeet." As in, "jeet yet?" (Did you eat yet?) We also have "Joo" but you hear that less often. As in, "Joo go to the park?" (Did you go to the park?" I ask my preschoolers "Jeet yet?" as they come in and they always answer me, so we definitely know what it means.
I was in California years ago and asked for a glass of wudder and the waiter asked me to repeat myself 3 or 4 times before I realized I need to ask for a glass of WAter.
