I was watching a programme all about young children and horrible illnesses they suffer from and how they do not live long.

Why does God let this happen?

Alot of people say "God isn't cruel, it our own sins which cause suffering" but how can a terminal or painful illness be justified against an innocent child? Apart from apparently being related to Adam and Eve, what has this child done wrong?

Thanks

You are not seeing the cruelty of God but the effects of sin in the world. A result of free will as opposed to being created as puppets. Many choose evil over good and the result of evil in the world affects all of us.

Have you ever stopped to think that these precious children are carried by the angels straight to God, where they will never suffer again? Jesus said to let them come unto Him for of such was the kingdom of God.

The world is filled with pain and suffering, and it will continue until it is burned up with fire.

In the meantime God is good, not sometime but all the time!

The innocent child suffer not because of God but some mistakes make by his parents or his country or the devil bring suffering and illness
God let it happen for a reason, so that people like you and me will take note

Well you asked a question about God so let me quote the bible on you:

Exodus 20:5

Never worship them or serve them, because I, the LORD your God, am a God who does not tolerate rivals. I punish children for their parents' sins to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.

So the conlusion is that if you worship other gods and die unrepenting your kids will be paying.

I know it's God's heart to heal us and redeem us from sin and ALL of it's consequences. Jesus died for not only our sins but also for the guilt we feel about ourselves and our sins and for all of our diseases.

3He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness; and like One from Whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him.

4Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].(B)

5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.

That's the Gospel of Jesus Christ! God wants to heal all of us! Why all aren't healed, honestly I don't know but I do know our illnesses move God's heart! I have seen people healed and know there's more that He'll heal. Someday, though, because of the work of Christ, there will be no more illness, disease, guilt, or shame or even tears for those that follow Him. God Bless You!
