I frequently get headaches & migraines (since 8 years old). I have brain scans continuously, no causes have been found. I was on amitrpytoline but it didn't work so I was taken off. I occassionally used to take Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Tylenol, etc. except now, when I take them (I try not to as much as I can) for the past year or two they haven't worked. They provide no relief at all! I was prescribed Tylenol with Codeine for my headahces but they also don't work.

I am not exaggerating, I wouldn't be asking why they don't work.

They provide absolutely no relief. I would appreciate so much if someone could explain to me why ?!

Also, I am a 15 year old female. I have been sick for about 2 years with an undiagnosed illness. Rheum &symptoms/tests show Lupus, but I am not getting into that! I just want to know why pain relievers aren't working with head, bone, inflamation. Also, I take 15 g Meloxicam for 1 month now; still not working, is there a relationship too?

Also, for the past year since I have been sick, I do not take any NSAIDS except the Meloxicam (which doesn't work! why?) because I know they will not work, and I do not want to further deteroirate my health. I just want to know why NSAIDS do not work for me because Meloxicam is a NSAID and so are the other medicine pain relievers I have used that do not work, so there might be a relationship, but why?

Hi sweetie, Im sorry you suffer so much from migranes. I do too. I have Lupus. and The autoimmune/Lupus Migranes and Headaches are very common to get, but very hard to treat.

What works for one does not work for another.

I take several medications for them, and do a couple things at home. At home, I know allergins can cause them, as can sun and heat.. to boot I live in Sothern CA, so that is a double wammy. I do use a Nasal Cleansing Pot (as seen on Oprah, yea lol) to rid any morning, afternoon, pollutents that may contributing to my migranes. Ill leave a link below so you can see what it is about. The more I use it, the better the migranes. But not total relief.

also an Nsaid is for inflamattion, which ina way a migrane is, but nasiads are for joints and minor headaches. in a migrane it is the blood vessels, and anothe infalmmatory process all rtogether, so it would not work over the long run.

I have tried Imitrex, and several other things to no avail. Right now I take 400 mg of Topomax a day, which is high, but I am looking up other meds. Imitrex is targeted for certain types of migranes. Im working up a list of other migrane meds to talk to your dr about. Riboflavin (Vitamin BtitleRiboflavin (basically vit B-2), Migranal, Dihydroergotamine mesylate, side effects, drug interactions, overdose, dosage
(a nasal spray, dr script needed), Frova, Frovatriptan succinate, side effects, drug interactions, overdose, dosage, Zomig relieves migraine headaches, Axert is a migraine treatment. , Relpax is used to treat migraine headaches with or without the presence of auras (visual disturbances that precede an attack, such as halos or flickering lights)., Magnesium TRADE NAMES Magnacaps (The Key Company), M2 Magnesium (Miller Pharmacal), Magimin-Forte (Non perscription), Depakote, in both delayed-release tablet and capsule form, is used to treat certain types of seizures and convulsions.
... to prevent, and other. Like the topomax. I will send you the link. There are many, many requiering a perscripton, but may be helpful, depending on the cause they can be helpful. this is a partial list.

I own a autoimmune support group, you would be young, but we have many files, including those on migranes, you can join to either post or to read the files on various autoimmunes, and migranes or ask question, we have parents of autoimmune paitents, and people like me, who got autoimmune in our teens, your welcome to check it out if you like. But I understand the pain. I live with migranes and other headaches daily. I hope the info helps you.

Good luck sweetie. hope this info helps and you find a solution
Chris

I have migraines too. Imitrex works wonders but it's very expensive about $256 for 9 pills. I also take Topamax to help prevent them. The doctor also gives me Vicodin to take to help the pain. Good luck because I know a headache is more painful than having a baby or kidney stones. I've had both and headaches are worse. 2D

Have you gone to a chiropractor? You may be surprised that they can help relieve migraines. If you can find a neurological chiropractor even better.

Try Hydrocodone, I used to be addicted to them though so be careful, use them ONLY when you have a headache
