LEAVE THE COLLAR ON FOR ATLEAST A WEEK.
this will ensure that the dog does not get an infection from licking and the healing time will be quicker.
the dog is usually back to itself a day or two later.
If stitched and there was no licking problem the stitches come out 7-9 days later.
this is the best thing you can do as a pet parent!!!

good luck.

About 7-10 days for the wound to heal. Your dog, if a puppy, will probably be back to normal in about 2 days though.

Most times if the dog has stiches they can be removed in 7-10 days and most dogs are healed up totally with about 14 days or so.
My vet does not use stiches he has a surgical laser and they heal faster without the stiches.

It did not take either of my retired greyhounds long to recoup at all. the most that i saw them go through was the effects of the drug used to knock them out..they were just kinda out of/not themselves the rest of the day. the empty sac however will take months to get absorbed back into their body. but that never seemed to bother them in any way.
