Well please don't report me for answering my own question, but today is the feast day of St. John Chrysostom.

Endeared as one of the four great doctors of the Church, St. John Chrysostom was born in 347 in Antioch, Syria and was prepared for a career in law under the renowned Libanius, who marveled at his pupil's eloquence and foresaw a brilliant career for his pupil as statesman and lawgiver. But John decided, after he had been baptised at the age of 23, to abandon the law in favour of service to the Saviour. He entered a monastery which served to educate him in preparation for his ordination as a priest in 386 AD.

Do you any of you have a devotion to St. John Chrysostom?

PRAYER: "Oh St. John Chrysostom , friend of God and servant of Jesus, pray for us to the Lord our God, that we may become humble servants of Christ as you were while you lived among us. Amen."

I don't have a devotion to St. John Chrysostom, but I did go to Mass today and Fr. Jerry had a nice talk about him. I learned the he was very strong in preaching and writing to explained Catholic doctrine and presented the ideal Christian life. For this reason, he is call Chrysostom or Golden Mouth. Therefore, don't think of the word "chrysostom" as his last name, which I'm sure people sometime do.
