Go Navy! It will help you in your college career and even help to pay for it.
You will gain much valuable experience plus, if you have the right attitute about it, you will have a great time in the Navy.
If you aren't physically active now, boot camp may be a little rough on you but _I_ made it through alright. I was the heaviest guy in the place about 20 lb overweight and still got through with no problems.

You will also gain respect from prospective employers and probably your parents.

We all have our dreams. When you are young you do not always know what is best for you. Your parents have thw wisdom of ages. In 20 - 30 years you'll see life the way they do. The way you ask the question implies your parents may not be too happy with the navy idea. On one hand being in the service, will get you money for college. On the other hand, our country is at war, and you would appear to be safe on a carrier, but I too am a parent and know how I would still feel. You could go to college, join the navy rotc, and still have a bit of both worlds. At least you would be an officer when you got out of school. Good luck, whatever you do.

Congrats on the Eagle Scout... but if you can do that, you can become a Navy Officer. Go to college, join ROTC, and shoot for Flight Crew rather than flight-line crew.

God Bless, and go-get-em...
Shoot for the stars... then, if you miss your target, you might at least hit the moon.

Go join the Navy. Enroll in the GI bill. When you get out, go to college. You will be way ahead of the game in school. Don't let others stand in the way of something worthwhile. Good luck.

You can blend your dreams. You can enlist and go to college concurrently (I got my degree while I was in)

Or you can enlist and go to college when you get out.

Or you can go to college first and join as an officer. You could do ROTC in college and get scholarships.

do what YOU want to do, not what your parents want you to do. It's YOUR life.
