No, you should've spayed her before her first heat. Much more dangerous for your pup to do it after.

Small breeds seem to go into their first heat later than larger breeds. It's nothing to be concerned about. I'm not sure how long a female stays in heat, but according to a website I found, a female usually stays in heat for about 21 days. You should expect a heat cycle every 6 months or so. No, you don't have to wait for a dog to go through a heat cycle before spaying. You certainly should not be breeding until you've done everything you possibly can to educate yourself and learn that breeding isn't something you do on a whim and most definitely isn't as easy as putting Fluffy and Fido together to make cute little puppies. I highly recommend you get her spayed once she's out of heat. Until then, keep her on a leash and supervise her like a hawk when she's outdoors to prevent any accidental litters. When you can't watch her, keep her indoors. It's important that you take responsibility and not let her get pregnant. It's also your responsibility to get her spayed. She's only a pet, and shouldn't be bred unless she's a proven champion in the show ring, has had all genetic/health tests completed, is a perfect example of the breed, and has great qualities to contribute to the breed. Please get her fixed ASAP.

Whilst she is in heat, keep her away from ANY male dogs unless you know for 100% (and I'm serious, some people lie) that they are neutered. Don't leave her in the yard alone because dogs looking for a mate can jump even 6ft high fences. A small ***** giving birth to puppies of a dog quite larger than her could kill her.
After her first heat has finished, take her to the vets to ask their advice and get her spayed ASAP for her wellbeing.
She does not need to be bred at all before being spayed.

Puppies can go into heat at 6 months old. It last about 3 weeks. How often she goes into heat depends on her but it is usually about every 6 months or so. DO NOT breed her if you plan on spaying her. That is not at all true. If you do plan on breeding her, you should wait until she is about 2 years old. Many health problems in dogs do not show up until about then so it is wise to wait just to make sure that she is healthy.

Fix her now. 10 months is even too old. Unless you are a professional breeder (a big decision with a lot of responsibility), having an intact dog is just harmful, and unfair to the dog (would you like to get humped constantly by strangers?).
Totally, completely untrue that you have to let a dog go into heat or that you should breed them before fixing. Totally untrue. By the way, I don't know if it goes without saying, but fixing your dog means she will no longer go into heat.

No not true. You should get your dog fixed asap. The more heats you dog goes through the higher the risk of cancer and something call pyometria which is something that is very hard to treat if not caught very soon. Please get her fixed
No dog should be bred until they are at least two years of age and had all the health test that bred requires.
It is not ad viced to let them go through one heat before fixing them. Please she will be a much better pet if you just get her fixed

Heat period usually lasts fr. onset to finish, 3 wks.
Typically 2 heat seasons in a yr.
If you spay(fix) her, wait till at least over a month after her heat's finish, for internal swelling to be gone before operation.
I myself do not suggest breeding her (if you must) till near 2 yrs. old.

Normally bitches should be spayed before the first cycle. The one exception to this is if the ***** has like an inverted vulva. They recommend these bitches wait until after first heat to be spayed. Get her spayed as soon as she comes out of heat.

if you are thinking of breeding her without a license then don't. And you have wait at least until she is 2 before she is mature enough to cope with a litter of pups.
just don't breed her in the first place and get her spayed.
