I really do not think you are going to find a small breed Puppy for free. I suggest you look into www.petfinder.com. They have dogs of all sizes, ages, breeds and mixes, all needing permanent homes.. These dogs have all their vaccinations, house trained and most are either spayed or neutered. Only thing is.......... They WILL be an adoption fee. This may be the way to go for you since all the other work is already done for you.
But you will still need to buy food, toys, portable kennel, collar and leash (if not provided) their annual vet visits. Then you will need money for emergency vet visits if they arise etc. You may want to wait until your Dad get work again.
Good Luck

i know that you want a dog but is this really the best time? if you cant afford the adoption fee of $50-200 then you cant afford a dog.
if you get a " free dog" you will have to pay
$100 in shots
$150-250 on fixing
$on food, toys, crate etc
but if you went to a shelter it would cost $50-200 and the neuturing and shots would be included. dogs on average cost $1000+ to take care of a year providing no major surgeries.
i suggest waiting until a more stable time to take on the responsibility of a dog. how about if you had to move? or live in an apartment where dogs arent allowed? please think this through .

Why don't you check the local animal shelter, or spca. Sometimes they have small dogs there too. But I suggest doing this after your father has a new job. It can still get expensive even if you get the dog for free. There are vet bills, food expenses, emergency all kinds of unpredictable things can happen. Good luck.

there is NO such thing as a free dog.
there will be vet bills...ect.
you can adopt one for a low cost (usually already fixed, shots)
try www.petfinder.com
or read yuor local paper
Edit maybe you should wait until your dad gets a new job.
that would be more fair for the dog.

The cheapest price that you pay for on a dog is the purchase price of the dog. I seriously doubt that anyone in good faith would give you a free puppy as you say that you can not afford one right now. Can you afford vet bills? Shots, worming, ect...? What about if the pup gets sick and needs to be hospitalized? If you can not afford to buy a pup, then I suggest that you do not get one right now.

Your better of waiting til dad gets back to work. I doubt you could afford a emergency vet bill or the neccessary vet work. Check petfinder.com, the dogs aren't free. But they come with spay/nueter , vaccinations, & a microchip. So for $50 to $100, your still getting a bargin.

how old are you that you have thousands saved up for medical care and supplies for a dog- in 3 months I have spent around $450 on my dog- and I didn't have to pay to get him neutered- which would have been an additional $150 at my vet. This does not include his adoption fee.Wait till your dad gets another job then get a dog for free- if emergencies happen you need to have options- this is not the best time.

If your dad lost his job, a dog is the LAST thing you need to be worrying about. Blessings to your family-hope your dad gets a wonderful job offer soon. Once things are a bit back to normal in the home, then you might go look at your local animal shelter.

I'm not so sure you CAN pay for everything else if you can't afford the adoption fee.
Sometimes the best things in life are worth waiting for.
