I love love love my hair right now. The thing is, is that I use my flat iron alot...I mean everyday. I have to or it is just a curly..frizzy mess.

My hair is not breaking off...I don't have any split ends...I know b/c I check my comb to make sure the hairs are just shedding and not spliting off.

I do not want my hair to suffer from me using my flat iron...so I have this conditioner stuff that is really good...

I want to know, how long is too long to keep conditioner in my hair? Will my hair get too "soft" and start breaking off??

Can I sleep with it in my hair??

as long as theyre not the cheap brands that contain that preservative (methylisothiazoline/mit) that causes neurological disorders (clairol, pantene, etc) the longer you leave them on, the better. if i know im not gonna be doin anything 1 day, i like to put conditioner through my hair after i shower and leave it till the next morning. also, it's good to leave it on in the shower after shampooing, but if you're gonna go out right after, only apply at least an inch away from your scalp, so your hair doesn't get flat. also, in response to what a girl above said about protein ones making your hair brittle after a while, that is true, but protein also rebuilds damaged hair! the longer it's on the better, considering you rotate it with a moisturizing mask/conditioner every once in a while.

before i bleached my hair, i covered it in conditioner and went to bed. it actually helped it because i had to bleach it twice the following day, and i'm not sure my hair would've made it if i didnt sleep with conditioner in, haha. I dont think it matters how long you leave it on, when i'm in the shower, i leave it on the ENTIRE time! it's really helped! And there's never a thing as too soft, hehe. but if i were you, i'd buy Thermasilk shampoo + conditoner and only shampoo every other day. When you use only the conditioner on your hair, that would be the best time to use the flat iron cuz there's natural oils left in your hair that you didnt wash out! Good luck!

Hi, my name is Gail. I realize this isn't really an answer, but I wasn't sure how to get a hold of you any other way. My hair is kind of similar. It is frizzy and wavy and I have to turn the straightener to the hottest setting to get it completely straight. I got split ends really bad from it, but I don't know what to do about it. There are all kinds of products that say they do amazing things, but I don't which to trust. I was wondering what conditioner you are using to protect your hair? Does it leave a build up in your hair? I want my hair to be healthy, but I want it to look good too. It doesn't look shiny when it's all frizzy and poofy. Could you tell me what you use? My email address is giflory@yahoo.com. Thank you!

You can sleep with it in your hair, but beware: conditioners with protein in them, if left in longer than the recommended time, can build up and cause hair to become brittle. Try a leave-in conditioner instead.

If you are flat ironing every day, why not consider thermal reconditioning? It's expensive, but the results last a long time, and you'll save in time (just wash-n-go) and money (spend less on expensive styling products).

no doll, im sure your hair wont get too-soft
but it would be pointless to sleep with it, just like hair dye after so long it just stops working, and that would be messy!!
what i do , every now and then is put my conditioner(redken extreme the best ever!) put it through all my hair put the shower cap on either blow dry it, to heat it up or sun bath!!

or what i do everyday in the shower, wash your hair first, pu tthe conditioner in and dont wash it out til your about to get outta the shower

thats what i do
my hair was so fried, if it was wet i could run my fingers threw it and pull it out!! its better now lol

hot oil treatments are good too, but i wouldnt use more than once a month
good luck doll!!

Sure you can sleep with it. But why not just use a leave-in conditioner after washing your hair? There are special ones made just for heat styling and some made to protect your hair from damage from flatirons. If you don't want to spend a fortune, VO5 makes a great one. Can't remember the name of it, but it comes in a red spray bottle. I also like products from Goldwell with silk protein in them. Look for them in beauty supply stores.

approximately 3 minutes would in all threat be the ultimate and that's what I do. that's distinctive for anyone however so i'd attempt 3 minutes and as you're waiting wash something of your physique then rinse your hair. If this does not artwork for you however then i'd attempt a minute extra or a minute much less yet is frequently 3 minutes.

I wouldn't sleep with it, because it might damage your hair if you leave it in too long. Just leave it in for about 4 to 8 minutes and then you can rinse it off.
