Do you think that the United States should increase legal immigration in a proportionate ratio to deportation?

Paul Revere - No. I'm not being harassed. I'm just trying to keep the tear stained stories of horrible living conditions/ I just want a better life or the "shoot to kill" crowd at bay.

No, but we should return to the law prior to 1965 where we only allowed 200,000 a year from other civilized countries.

I have to think from your questions that someone is emotionally harassing you....

Absolutely not.

The math just doesn't add up to that making this country better in the long run.

We are already over 300 million and growing FASTER then ever before in our history - by far. If we only keep our current rates up we will surpass 600 million in about 60-70 years. These numbers only account for LEGAL immigration at our current numbers.

At some point even the most ardent supporter of close living conditions, high energy prices, lack of any outdoor recreational opportunities and lowering our standard of living knows that we will reach a point when we are "full".

I feel very strongly that we need to start slowing this runaway growth down so that our children and grandchildren have some of the same opportunities that we have had. There is nothing wrong with only allowing a small number of people to immigrate here. We cannot possibly impact the horrendous poverty, problems and overpopulation problems the 3rd world has without letting several billion Chinese, Indians, Africans, etc come here. Of course we would cease to exist if we allowed that so at what number do we allow the US to grow to? I feel that the smaller we can keep it the better it will be for everyone here.

No AND Yes. No proportionately, as I think 1 million plus a year is too much (the figures for illegal immigration), but I DO think it should be increased to compensate for any needs the country may have for increased job force or increased population and I think that should be done fairly among all countries and potential immigrants.

I am not interested in deportation ratios. My attitude is really a simple one. As a citizen of the USA I have to pay taxes and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the gernment of the land. I do not like many of the rules of the land but as an American who loves his country I follow the rules as best as I can. I hate seat belts but I wear them. I hate SUVs that blank out the sun but I ride along side of them when they are on the road. I do not like the war in Iraq but I live with it because the president of the US (a man that I did not vote for) started the war and as an American I am stuck with it. I write letters and E-mails but I always maintain my dignity. People who cross our borders illegally are committing a crime and should be locked up for it. If I commtted a crime I would be locked up for it. I do not hate Mexicans (except their thieves and rapists) and wuld like to see them in America but with the proper visa. Mexicans who cross our borders illegally should be sent home at once. The border should be sealed tight but politics plays a master's role in this case and it is wrong for it to matter at all.
If the USA wishes to increase legal immigration then it is fine but it must be handled properly and according to the law. We can't seal our borders? Nonsense. We can seal the borders air tight....if we wanted to. We are presently a mixed up country with too many policies to follow. Every congressman is an expert on every subject when truthfully they are all dumb and self-centered. The borders will never close as long as there is need for cheap labor.

We would have the respond quickly If unlawful workers interior the US end working or if the hot SS card coverage is positioned into impression...there are prepared marches in cities around the rustic in protest to the Bush requirement. it truly is that SSecurity places of work and companies are required toprove the SSnumbers experience the staff...that's alongside with the actuality that the device of matching SS#s with workers is already improper and facilitates misidentification of legitiment workers many cases over. unlawful immigration? ought to we enable refugees from the conflict torn Iraq into this united states of america? Sweden does, and the countries interior the Mideast are to different tiers..sure the place do people who've lost each and everything and have been threatened by ability of armed militias pass? Many are in shanty cities around Baghdad, residing devoid of water, food, or any centers through fact no person acknowledges their plight...those human beings have not have been given any UN camps or Humanitarian help and those a hundred,000 and greater have not have been given any thank you to even pass slowly to a border in hopes of even being a political refugee.... try that on for American supported conflict of aggression against harmless families....I doubt if one relatives in Iraq hasn't lost kinfolk to the invasion...

I truly believe that the numbers should be decreased until everyone here is LEGAL. This country has its own problems and turmoils without having an epidemic of illegal "criminals" here to support. This is not an emotional response...they are my true beliefs. How can you help others when your own house isn't in order?

No.

Illegal immigration needs to be stopped and a moratorium put on legal immigration until the dust settles.

illegals offer nothing to help society other than minimal to free labor. they pick our oranges and do our landscaping however those are jobs americans can do for higher wage. other than that, we have no need for them. I agree with chinagirl. If america is going to allow illegals in the country, let educated immigrants in that can actually better our society other than creating gangs, hit and running over pedestrains, having anchor babies that crowd elementary schools, and wasting away government funds.

The majority of visas are called capped visa, ratios are worked out that each country get a fair share of visas each year.

My answer to your question is No, the visas are calculated on how many are given out each year, and the backlog is so far behind (we are talking years here) that's to increase it, would cripple the system
