Its up to you to work with anydog. Yorkiepoo mutts are just as easy to housebreak as a yorkie or poodle.

Yorkiepoos are actually a mix between Yorkshire Terrier and Poodle.

If they stay true to the Yorkie personality, while they are cute, they can be tremendously demanding. They are not the type of dog to leave alone for long periods. They require lots of attention and brushing.

Is your 12 year old very responsible? Or is wanting a puppy a passing fancy?

Every dog is different. Some are very dominant while another would be submissive. So depending on the type of pets you already have, this may or may not be a problem.

Yorkshire Terriers and Poodles in general are easy to train, especially at a young age-- if you are consistent and use treats to your advantage.

A "yorkiepoo" is a mix between a Yorkshire Terrier and a poodle. Asking us to predict how a "yorkiepoo" will turn out as is as hard as finding a needle in a haystack. Basically, you'll want to write down every characteristic of both breeds, throw them in a hat, and randomly draw. That's how hard it is to predict how a mutt will turn out. I would not recommend a Yorkshire Terrier for rambunctious kids. Even a 12 year old could accidentally step on a small dog if they're very active and always on the go. Both Yorkshire Terriers and Poodles are sweet dogs. A mix of these two could be very easy to housetrain and could be very hard. Poodles are very intelligent, so if the dog you got took more after a poodle, then it could be very easy to housetrain. Small breeds, including Yorkshire Terriers can be stubborn and harder to housetrain. Both dogs are trainable, so I would say you could easily train a mix with patience. The usual price for one of these mutts is TOO MUCH from a so-called breeder. Beware that no responsible and reputable breeder would EVER mix breeds. Usually, they come from irresponsible backyard breeders that over-price these mutts to make big money. You do not want to support a business like that. I highly recommend http://www.petfinder.com I am SURE there are many Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle mixes looking for a good home. As for your breeding question, please have your dog spayed or neutered. There are far too many dogs sitting in shelters as it is, and a "yorkiepoo" is nothing more than a mutt. Please please please do your research and not buy a mixed breed from an irresponsible backyard breeder, puppy mill, or pet store.

If you want a good pet and want to do a good deed and save a life go to Petfinder.com. Forget backyard breeders and petstores. Often their dogs come from puppymills and are sick or have genetic disorders. You'll break your little boy's heart if you buy him a dog that dies two weeks later. Petfinder rescues adult dogs and pups. I've seen many yorkiepoos as well as purebreds on Petfinder. Besides, why suuport breeders and puppymills when thousands of dogs die every day because of overbreeding...and that includes poodles, yorkies, and yorkiepoos.

yorkiepoos are not a breed...they are MUTTS!!! plain and simple...yorkies are notoriously hard to housebreak also...just get your kid a dog from the local shelter...you will be happier and you will be saving an unwanted dogs life instead of supporting an ignorant backyard mutt breeder who wants to charge you 500 for some mix breed that you don't know how big it will be...will it be small? will it shed? you don't know since a yorkie poo is not a breed...don't be stupid...besides, most dogs at the shelter are purebred dogs

these dogs that are intentionally bred come from puppy mills and backyard breeders . do you want to support that? in case you dont know this is waht a puppy mills is :
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=puppy+mills
yorkipoos or mutts personalities are totally unpredicatble some are easily trained some are not, some learn tricks faster then others and smaller dogs generally have a hrd time being potty trained. these dogs do not have a usual price becuase they are mutts not a breed they shouldnt be intentionally bred and sold to people who fall fro the designer breed . at a shelter they cost $50-200 to adopt from a back yard breeder or puppy mill they will try to get as much $ as possible.to find a yorkipoo go to petfinder.com and type in your zip code there are so many for adoption.
i hope you arent going to be breeding your mutt since there are so many homeless dogs. no responsible ethical breeder breeds muttts. go to petfinder.com and adopt!
