I've tried antidepressants in the past for anxiety disorders, but noticed I felt very vulnerable while I was on them.
I felt like I was begging people to like me, and I felt they didn't. I had no self confidence.

Then I quit taking them, and I now do feel confident, and I can care less if people like me or hate me. I think I'm fun to be around though, and if you don't like me, your missing out.

Was it the drugs(antidepressants) that make people feel vulnerable, or what?

Antidepressants or anti-anxiety drugs?

I feel vulnerable most of the time because I cah't make decisions well, and I'm liable to get into a situation where I feel boxed in, like there's no escape. I take both antideps and antianx. I think it's the nature of the beast, though, just part of having this disorder. I don't think it's the meds, because I feel better on the meds.

It ought not to be, you know?

It is a fact that different people react to different antidepressants - which is why the doctor who prescribes for anyone will (ought to!) take a full and detailed medical history and various specimens and so on.

The fact that you're well enough to go off them and to feel good that you have, is an indication of how well you are now - but in fact, if you ever need to take them again (or for anyone who does - and antidepressants are a VERY valuable tool in our lives when they are needed! - remember to check in with whoever prescribes for you within the first week to 10 days of starting, in order to inform him/her of the efficiency of the tabs you're taking!!)
