I haven't had a hangover in 15 years, but your chinese remedy sounds great.
I always drank hot&spicy V-8 juice.
My husband (from Mexico) swears by eating Menudo, a soup with hominy and tripe in it.

A giant bowl of Menudo. Don't forget to sprinkle on the onions, cilantro and lemon.
From Wiki: "The soup menudo is a traditional Ecuadorian & Mexican dish; a frequently spicy soup made with tripe. It is often thought of as a cure for a hangover, and is traditionally served on special occasions or with family"

I like either cold pizza, ramen noodle soup, or some hamburgers from a fast food joint.. sometimes a nice big breakfast from Denny's or IHOP really hits the spot, if I'm eating at 3-4am.. before I sleep!

I am so hungover today
I eat McDonalds and it made me feel better. I think that high fat, greasy, unhealthy food cures it well!! I also made a chilli for my dinner, and the spiciness of it and the vegetables i put in were good for it too.
Hot and sour soup - I want some!!!!

No food...just lots of fluids. You need to replenish the oxygen levels in the brain! I always start off the next morning with a big glass of V8.
But your Chinese sounds yummy!

Greasy fried breakfast food seems to work best for me. Hashbrowns, eggs, biscuits with sausage gravy, bacon, coffee, couple glasses of juice and water.
Also, 2 aleve and a multivitamin.

Red Bull and a Frosted Cherry poptart (new favorite)
My husband's meat lover's omelet and Dole Strawberry Orange juice (old favorite) but after eating that for years after a night out...I find that the Red-Bull really helps...
