Tricare Standard is immediate upon enrollment into DEERS. you must enroll into Tricare Prime. If you turn in the paperwork before the 20th of any given month, it SHOULD be effective the first of the next month. after the 20th, and it will be the month following( so if you enroll on September 21st, Prime will not go into effect until November 1)

I work for tricare... when you enroll into deers you are automatically enrolled into standard. it should take less than 24 hrs to update. If you call your regions offc they will be able to let you know what he is showing. If you choose the tricare prime coverage, you have to fill out the enrollment form. And yes it does follow the 20th of the month rule.

at the start, you are able to desire to get an identity card and connect DEERS. Then refer to Tricare with reference to the beginning, you've gotten been given Tricare online and talk to a representative concerning scientific care. Are there any militia hospitals close on your place? if so, you are able to pass to it and connect Tricare,

Tricare Standard was effective the day you obtained custody of that stepson. So, his eligibility will be back-dated to that date when you enter him into DEERS. TriCare Prime comes with you paying a premium every month for enrollment. The upside is that your copays are going to be less.

I believe you get put in Tricare prime. Are you active duty? I am, and when I enrolled my step-daughter, she went into Prime. Which really sucks anyways. I am disenrolling all of my family members, and reenrolling them in standard. I would like to go to the doctor of my choosing, I don't mind the tiny co-pay, really!
No, you enroll in deers, and then bring the deers enrollment form to your Tricare office, and they enroll you then.

yes, but you need to go by the tricare at the hospital to make sure sometime the system does not update itself. You can also go on the tricare online www.tricare.osd.mil

I think you get Tricare Prime. My son and I had to switch to Tricare Standard because we moved to my hometown while my husband is deployed and we live too far away from a base to use Tricare Prime.
