A man who was an atheist had no belief in life after death, then he took seriously ill and faced death on a hospital bed. He has written a book about it. If you really want to hear it from someone who has been there and back, and who cannot be accused of bias, read Howard Storm's book 'My Descent Into Death'.
His terrifying experience transformed him when he returned from his 'out of the body' experience. Just read the book!

Good question.. I am a christian and I believe that we are judged and spend eternity in heaven or hell..but I'm not sure what happens as soon as we die. I like to think that there is a resting place some people refer to as the bosom of Abraham where we are just "asleep" until judgement day.

One of two things . They're either taken to a funeral home , put into a box taken to a cemetery and buried . The other possibility is cremation - - burnt to ash .
That's the end of the line for all living things here on earth. We all , the animals , trees , grass , birds , worms , weeds , fish , have a certain lifespan. If we're lucky , we'll make it into old age - - - - then nothingness for the rest of time , just as we were before birth . Natural , understandable , believable , no hokus-pokus , no fairy tales , no impossibilities .

Here is an answer that is not a thoery but from God's word the bible found at Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10" For the living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all.' " Also thier love, hate and jelousy have perished.' All that your hands find to do do with your very power for there is no work, nor devising, nor knowledge in sheol the place to which you are going'. ( Sheol: the common grave of mankind)

I used to think that all the energy was recycled and maybe a part of you would be in a flower, another person, a fish, a blade of grass..etc.. but now i'm not too sure, the older I get the more of a mystery it is becoming.

Two options. You either go to heaven or hell. There is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus Christ. You must admit that you are a sinner and believe that Jesus died on the Cross for your sins and rose 3 days later. Then you must confess that you want Him in your life. If you do not choose option one then you are choosing option 2! Of coarse it is your choice.

They go to the Spirit World to await the resurrection. This is where Christ went before his resurrection and after his death.
After the resurrection, you will be judged by Jesus Christ.
This process will happen to every person except those that are translated.

Most likely, nothing. Just like any other organism at the end of its life span, I'll start to decompose.
It would be nice to think there was more, but there's no eivdence for it, and logic argues against it ...

to atheists their typical answer would be "decomposion of the body or you stop existing" that means we are of no use to this world, we serve of no meaning, purpose or significance what so ever
another reason why I believe we are not a bunch of blobs on Earth but the children of God (christian or not) and that is why when we die it is just the beginning of our eternal life..BUT many will go to Heaven :-) and others Hell :-(
I wrote more than you asked me to answer but oh well! :D

When you die your life ends. Then you get put in a box and put 6ft under and then you slowly start to decompose until you become a skeleton.
