Is it true that sea salt contains less sodium than its generic cousin, table salt? I've heard this several times, but find it hard to believe.

there's only one chemical composition for the salt we use to season: Sodium and Chlorine.
you're out of luck on that one.

i find sea salt to have a flavour all its own, milder saltiness also. (and it has nutrients)
compared to table salt which is very much a sterile ::salt:: flavour, that doesn't dissolve well when not cooked in. :(

I have sea salts from all over the world and each one has a unique taste. After trying sea salts I no longer use table salt,it has a very bitter taste and it contains iodine. If you do a taste test side by side you will wonder why you ever used table salt to begin with.I would say sea salt must be better for you because it is all natural.I will take my chances with the purity of the ocean that the sea salt came from,as opposed to someone scraping the table salt off the floor of some factory.

Sea salt contains about 80 mineral elements that the body needs. Some of these elements are needed in trace amounts. Unrefined sea salt is a better choice of salt than other types of salt on the market.

Ordinary table salt that is bought in the super markets has been stripped of its companion elements and contains additive elements [sometimes] such as aluminum silicate to keep it powdery and porous.

False.

"Chemically there is little difference between kitchen salts. All are at least 97 1/2 percent sodium chloride. But there are significant differences in the provenance and processing of these salts."

they have the same amount of sodium, but table salt is iodized (which we need to prevent getting goiters).
