Does he not like being in the office with the rest of us? Every day he is here first and leaves on his little vino scooter early.

I've worked with people like that. Try to be concerned with Your own integrity because you always find people who lack it like your co-worker. We need more people like you who are honest and hard working.

i've worked in offices where that is fine to do. It could be his personal schedule, or he can get more done when it's quiet in the morning. Office noises can be disruptive, and it usually has nothing to do with others personalities. He really just wants to do his job well. On the flip side, take note of how your co-workers behave. Do they talk way too much? Are they catty? Lazy? Immature? Do they slack off on Yahoo Answers during the work day?

Put all the info together and you will have your answer.

I would not take it personal. I am a morning person. I get to work long before my co workers simply because I do not want to sit around the house all morning. I leave a few hours before everyone, but my work is always done. I figure that is all that matters.

It's called flextime.

Some of us have obligations, like school-aged children or are headed for class... or maybe they just don't like to be around people all day.

Some companies allow flextime based on seniority.

Anyway, what's it to you? Do you have to work closely with him on a regular basis and he's always gone? If that's the case, speak with your supervisor about it - and maybe some other arrangements can be made. Otherwise, leave it alone. It's not your concern.

Some people like to avoid rush hour traffic, or like to get stuff done without lots of interruptions that happens usually when there are more people in the office. Maybe you should ask your co-worker why.

Do you know how long it takes to get to work on those things? They only go 10 miles an hour, so he needs to avoid the traffic in the morning and in the evening.

Who knows why. Maybe your co-worker has an agreement with your employer to work different hours. Many people here in my office work different hours.

Maybe he's shy, or sad, or has an emotional problem, or a mental problem-----or any number of things. Maybe he doesnt like the rest of you. Maybe he doesnt like himself. Whatever the reason is, it has nothing to do with you--only with how he feels about himself and the things around him. Dont take it personally, just be kind and forget about it.

Good grief how judgemental.

It is none of your business what his arrangement is with the manager/boss/whatever.

If he knew what you thought about him, then yes, maybe he doesn't like being in the office with you.

Hardly a surprise.

Maybe he wants to leave early to beat traffic. Maybe he gets more work done without everyone else there. Maybe he can't help but to get there early.

Stop worrying about others and worry about yourself.
Maybe he has another job. Or maybe he has children he has to pick up from somewhere early so he comes in early to make up the time. (I do this)
Maybe he has to take care of his infirm mother who needs her medicing at 3:00 every day.

There are tons of reasons. Stop being so paranoid and nosey.
