why does the bible contradict itself?
How many pairs of animals were taken by noah on the ark gen 6-19 gen 7-2. Why does all the accounts of jesus's crusifiction differ and why did jesus heal on a sabath the day made holy by god and god comanded not to do regular work on (and as he was a healer that healing would be regular work).
Can you please say what faith so I can see the differences in views.

Sincere-Advisor the crusifiction wasn't a practice used unless it was a crime against rome and then they were only for roman citizens and yes being a provence of rome made him a citizen ceasar made all conquered teritories able to have a say in rome and that was not revoked by any emporer until long after his death .
roman governors were not usualy posted for very long and an inept one would not of lasted 5 years which was the term never mind 20 years being played by the locals as is described

i see the genesis is not a contradiction but the bible new testiments say only the women jesus knew were their mary and his mother and as mary (i do know both are mary) was close to jesus she told the disciples so how did she manage to tell two stories at once when all were present?

HAMMURABI someone who knows their history but the flood story can be found in other cultures aswell namely in aboriginal australian myth is closest other than the sumerian the ten comandments arn't realy comandments they are more of a heading as their are over 100 laws in the book of deututeronomy and it is thought they came from the egyptian book of the dead the best survivour being the Scroll of Ani and each of the laws can be traced to egyptian priests rituals aswell if i'm right that is what your talking about but as far as i am aware the priests rituals were similar all over that region

As a Christian I see many apparent contradictions reconciled with careful study. The four gospel accounts, for example, are just what you would expect - if you were a policeman - when recording four witnesses' stories. There would be similarities, some differences, and put together you would get the whole picture. Just because one eyewitness recorded one fact and not another is no reason to assume a contradiction.
Jesus healed on the Sabbath as that was perfectly in accord with God's law as given to Moses. It was his critics who had added to those laws, and interpreted them to a ludicrous degree, who accused him falsely of violating the Sabbath. It's always right to do good on the Sabbath - to help people, and even animals.
The Genesis instructions simply start with the basic command, then add an additional requirement. The reason for the 'clean' animals to be taken on board in greater numbers was partly symbolic and to do with the number seven. Also, the livelihood of Noah's family upon leaving the Ark would be dependent on quickly getting flocks and herds established. Just read the whole Bible through, take your time, and be prayerful about it, and even though I'm wiped out myself, I give you a huge cuddle - symbolically (and that's NOT a contradiction!)

An you will find many more contradictions. The Bible has been edited to favour this or that sovereign, either spiritual or temporal. As a translator I can tell you this. It already difficult enough to keep the same meaning, linguistically and culturally speaking, from one language to the another. Now imagine doing that through time with scarce knowledge about other languages, making assumptions, translating messages form a language long forgotten that nobody speaks any more. Now, that is perfect for manipulating a piece of text to suit my interests isn't it. Well, you must consider that the gospels were versions of people who wrote what they knew or what they remembered and when we talk about the old testament there's a completely different story there. In the case of the new testament we can't really be sure whether anything is true or not. I suppose that there is some truth there for the trained eye who will not be deceived by so much editing. As to the Old testament I can tell you that most of it is a collection of stories adopted by the Hebrew while beings slaves to other peoples. They adopted many things from many different cultures. You'll see an amazing coincidence between their myths and Babylonian and even Hindu ones. The oldest story is that of Job, almost old as time itself, well, not so much. You'll notice the differences in style and tone there, how Satan is portrayed as God's helper somehow. The myth of the flood, Gilgamesh, Moses and King Sargon. It's all the same. pope had to create these stories to explain facts attributed to God, to teach moral lessons, etc. The Jewish just adopted them and adapted them to their God. Everybody wrote a different story adding or taking details, changing quantities, makings assumptions, filling gaps. Put all that together and give it to monks, who had to translate things to their own languages where maybe there was no equivalence to some concepts, you end up having very different versions of the same thing. And the same happened to the people who wrote the originals of those stories, they wrote what they remembered, how they remembered it, maybe they had not been witnesses but were just remembered what they have been told by their parents, friends and family. The Bible is full of inconsistencies. Some years ago, when I was studying it, I found many inconsistencies and then there we striking similarities with myths and legends coming from other religions.
I hope I've been clear enough

Noah can be explained simply by the fact that the Old testament was compiled by several people, and the account can vary - put it down to quality control.
Jesus' crucifixion varies only in the cosmetic detail applied by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and was entirely due to their personal experience of the event - remember all 4 had different occupations before encountering Christ. It is quite clear that all 4 accounts will be different, but they all hold the essential truth - that Jesus was crucified in the manner of a common criminal to fulfil scriptures and to break the bonds of death. Ask yourself this: How many times do you read a newspaper and see slightly different takes on the same news item? Loads! Why? Because they are in different newspapers!
Jesus healed on the sabbath day to prove the point that the work of God transcends the law of Moses; the law of Moses was what Jews were observing, and NOT the 10 commandments!

I'm a christian and I have to agree with Dark Chocolate, there are these Zionist who say they are jews and are not, they mostly are of the KHARZIAN EMPIRE!..Do alil history check bro and you'll see that alot of these so called jews are not really jews, only through conversion..Believe me, I love the true Hebrew people, jews derive from Judah, and not all Israelites are jews but all jews are Israelites,As for these Zionist, they are the one's believe it or not that helped and financed hitler to start this extermination of jews, and to throw them out, this way there would be an out cry and as history shows, they got their own country..In 1948,The war was around 1940,by 1948 they had their own country and we and alot of other nations still send them millions of dollars ayear.I don't hate the people of God at all,for they are our brothers, but I'm in the belief that this holocust was a fraud and did not take place at all, their is alot of evidence to sustanciate it as well. I repeat, I do not hate what our own Lord was,An Israelite so please don't think that, and all of the early church were Israelites as well, but we have to do our home work, just like our Lord said to search the scriptures as hidden treasure,I emplore you to do the same in history, search and research it,and you will find that it is not what we have been told. Thank you and I still believe that the majority of Islam is a very dangerous religion taken way out of context by those that are evil!..

In the Genesis account of Noah, in chapter 6 God only says to take 2 of every living creature. In chapter 7, God elaborates this, to show that he meant 2 of every 'unclean' kind, but 7 every clean animal. There is no contradiction, just more information.
As for the crucifixion, the differences are accounted for.
The gospel of John used a different method of numbering the hours of the day (the Roman civil day) . The other 3 used the traditional Hebrew system. The rest of the accounts don't have any contradictions, only different emphasis, as you would expect from different viewpoints.
Healing on the Sabbath was never against God's commands, only working. Jesus did not have a job title of 'healer', it's just something he did, at the request of God. Jesus came to expose the hearts of the Pharisees, whose rules and laws were weighing the people down with heavy burdens. It says in the OT, God requires our hearts turned to him more than he wants sacrifices. Jesus was motivated by love, and only ever did what God asked him to do.
Psalm 40:6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.
Hosea 6:6 for I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
What had happened was the law givers and pharisees had made the rituals and laws more important than mercy, love and justice. Jesus came to put that right.

The accounts in Genesis regarding the male and female animals to be taken into the Ark were continuous, meaning God told Noah to take all animals by twos, then he gave another command to take clean animals by seven. This is not a contradiction, but a furtherance of a commandment.
As far as Jesus healing on the sabbath, the bible is clear man was not made for the sabbath, but the sabbath for man. Therefore, just like David and his men ate from the fields on the sabbath because they hungered, Jesus could heal. Jesus said wasn't it better to do good on the sabbath rather than evil.
Again, the accounts of the cruxificion each include the memories of the writers. One writer may have remember something another forgot, but that does not make it a contradiction. Luke explains it perfectly when he says in the beginning of his gospel: "Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; It seem good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus."
Therefore, Luke, explains that each wrote from memory what they witnessed. Luke has many accounts in his gospel not found in others, so it is possible he alone witnessed it, or the others did not recall them to write it. But, whatever the reason, there are no discrepancies in the bible.
In Islam for example, you are not to eat pork, yet a Muslim can eat pork if he is going to die otherwise, so it is the same with the sabbath. I am a Christian.

Christian...
I cannot say I completely understand this however after Genesis 6:19 it says that Noah did this... Genesis 6:22 "Noah did everything just as God commanded" maybe the 7:2 is a second command to take.. more animals. I'm not afraid to admit I am uncertain. I believe the accounts of Jesus' Crucifixion differ because they are told by different people. He is quoted as saying a few different things but maybe the people heard what God wanted them to hear. . .
Jesus healed on the Sabbath because the rules God created were re-created by Jesus... no more sacrifices... no more commandment (just love you neighbour) and (love your God) etc.
I hope this has been of some use to you. I'm hardly a theologian but that's my understanding.

Regarding Noah and the Ark. The whole story of the flood was a SUMERIAN legend. The jews originally lived in Mesopotamia as wandering tradesmen, and picked up many stories and myths from the far more advanced, older and more powerful Sumerian and Assyrian-Babylonian culture. This story goes back to 3000BC, before the jews were mentioned in history...Its just a story, Noah was Nu or Atrakhasis, and the god that created the flood was the Sumerian god EA!
Same with the 10 commandments, exactly the same as written legal codes dating back to before 2000bc in mesopotamia!
Archaeologists wee stunned when they deciphered these things in the 19th century! And the church, particulary the catholic church was most displeased!
The latter two testaments were written later. Basically christianity is in origin a semitic, eastern religion, it was hijacked by people with a greco-roman culture, and they needed to adapt it to fit in with their existing belief systems, hence the virgin birth story, and various other contradictions and add ons!

animals were not always taken onto the ark in pairs. The bible says that there were two of every unclean beast and seven of every clean taken onto the ark. How many pairs is not important, the fact that there was a flood which wiped all the evil people from the earth is important. The accounts of Jesus Crucifixion differ because people have different points of view and hear different things. This is demonstrated clearly by the fact that in police reports many eyewitnesses to a crime or accident will notice different details ans focus on them. Things haven't changed. They writers of the New Testament all focused on what they thought was important when they wrote their gospels. Jesus healed on the Sabbath because it was God's will that he heal. As he was not a "professional physician" doing healing as an occupation and as he was the Son of God sent to do God's will he was not " working" per se but merely doing what God saw fit for him to do. By faith I am Born again Christian who lived 20 years as a Wiccan and then saw the light and reached Out to Jesus, who reached out to me in return.

I u really want to pertain to some thing relate to the Bible compiled by Matti a true follower of Juses ( as per my sources) more over Work = some thing done for compensation and there is not a single proof as to show as if Jesus asked any 1 for some thing in return of his healing ~!!!
abt the difference in the stories of crusifictions, there is no other explanation then the Jew used to slaughter the person who was convicted as a Christian back in that time ... so true followers hide there faith and bcz of which the diff in accounts~!!!
