Hi, I was wondering how the church helps people in our society, or to be more specific how they can help a couple with marriage problems.

The Church can offer Marriage Guidance, but it is pointless most of the time, it is better to go see a professional.

There are many churches that provide marriage counseling from a Biblical perspective. God would be the best one to ask about marriage since he created it.
How effective it is- a lot of times has to do with a couple of things:
1) What does each partner believe. (It's not always helpful to teach someone what the Bible says about something if they could care less about what the Bible says).
2) How badly each party wants to reconcile and what those differences are. (Churches can teach what the Bible teaches and offer assistance- but ultimately individuals and couples make decisions.
i think the good part is that the Bible teaches that God does not like divorce and that's something that is really emphasized that whatever issues there are- they can be worked out. It's hard for me to tell you a specific church- although i will say that Calvary Chapels have lots of excellent ministires that are Bible based (i don't attend a Calvary but i did my Bible school training there).

In society, I see a lot of areas where churches can be helpful. They create homeless shelters, raise funds for charities, adopt highways, etc...
I'm not commenting on the marriage thing. Wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

Our church is large enough to offer many programs for single moms, battered women, the homeless, marriage counseling....
The list goes on
It's all an extension of the love of Christ

The best way to help anyone with marriage problems is to refer them to the bible. There are scriptures in there that instruct a man and woman on their roles as husband and wife.

They help the poor and hungry usually-i have to give them that.
But if you are looking to get marriage help from people who molest little boys.. i think you looking in the wrong place
