Egypt is heaps more fun and its a lot cheaper.
If you go down to Luxor the people are even more friendly than in Cairo which is the biggest city in Africa and the Middle East.
Egypt also has a lot more to offer the tourist. It is actually a country almost set up for tourists as so much of its economy comes from tourism.
There are lots of things to do and places to go other than the Pyramids, the Sphinx ,the Valley of the Kings Adu Simbel and Karnak. Just soooo many ancient temples and you have to visit the Cairo Museum and see the amazing collection of statues, jewellery etc plus the mummies and of course King Tutankhamen's solid gold funerary mask and all the other beautiful things from his tomb. His mummy is still in its tomb and you can go in and see the boy Pharaoh himself.
Then there is Khan el Khalili the famous bazaar where you can really just go on shopping till you are dropping or have spent all your money. LOL
I have been to Israel and Jerusalem but Egypt is really a much better and safer place to go for a holiday.
Get a Lonely Planet guide or go to their website and you can get a good idea of prices and what to see in both places.
Salaam or Shalom its really up to you.
I hope you have a wonderful vacation which ever you choose.

edit The border crossings are more tiresome and tedious than dangerous. There is danger anywhere in this world even your own street.

Israel. It is a beautiful place with an amazing history and wonderful friendly people.
I would stay away from Egypt if you are a Westerner.

Israel and Egypt are neighbours - why don't you visit both during this trip?!

Both are beautiful, exotic countries with many, many things for you to enjoy.

In Egypt they have a place called the Sinai Peninsula it is about the size of Israel or alittle smaller... but anyway it is a fun place exactly what your looking for (fun) and at the sametime you can go scuba diving (one of the richest marine habitats in the world) and you can go visit the Suez canal which is quite an intriguing water way......

anyway lots of things to do in theSinai peninsula let alone in the rest of egypt.

You asked this question in the Israeli section where many Israeli people answer. What makes you think we're going to say "Egypt"?
