I do not grieve death nor attend funerals. I think it is a barbaric ritual. I do set time aside and reflect on the deceased persons life and I'm happy I had the privilege of knowing the person. If we believe in God, then there is nothing to mourn. When we mourn its usually for ourselves. We can't see the person anymore, we can't visit with them anymore, and we are going to miss them.

Death can be a very difficult thing. It is very different for every person. Nobody can say I know how you feel because they aren't you. The only person that can is God. Just remember that it's not God that causes death. That comes from the devil. It's easy to say well why did God let this happen? First off, God is not the cause of evil, but the cure. We do not know his divine plan and will not untill we come to know him in the final day. So what you can do is to pray unceasingly for your departed loved one and for yourself. Ask God to grant your loved one entrance into his kingdom and into his grace. Then ask God for the wisdom and strength to push on and to follow his will so that you may one day be reunited with your loved one in heaven.

I lost a very dear friend to breast cancer a few years ago. We got together to spread her ashes in the Texas Hill Country. We put on Stevie Nicks and toasted to a remarkable lady and friend with champagne. It was a great day.

I miss her everyday but I have 34 years of many wonderful memories of her too.
