Hi. I need help getting stronger biceps. I normally do push ups, but it doesn't help get bigger biceps, just bigger shoulders. I need an excersize that will make my biceps stronger that does NOT involve weights. I'm 13 1/2 and I don't want to stunt my growth.

Push ups are great for your chest, shoulders, and triceps (your back too!) but they really don't work your biceps. In order to develop your biceps, you're going to need to lift with dumbbells, a bar, tubing, or selectorized equipment, or do some form of manual training. I'm not sure why you believe lifting weights will stunt your growth, but that's simply not true. See an exercise professional to teach you proper technique as well as recommend the right amount of training, and try to maintain a healthy diet as well.

Moderate weight training will NOT stunt your growth. Besides, ALL physical exercise is a form of weight training. Your push up are not all that different than bench presses with weights. In the case of push ups, your body is the weight. Same with squats, lunges, chin ups, etc.

You can do curls with handweights, or smaller weights on a bar. If you still have some irrational fear of weights, do curls with a can of beans in each fist.

u r not going 2 stunt ur growuth, unless u lift very very heavy weight, which is even unlikly then. pushups do nothing for biceps, do preacher curls, curls for biceps.

Curls with weights are best, more reps with light weights for stamina and heavy weights with fewer reps for strength and size.
