I ask this because I do believe the following statement is true:
No person benefits economically from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the 8 to 20 men who serve on their Governing Body receive simply room, board, medical care, and reimbursement for certain personal expenses according to the exact same provision as every other branch volunteer.

With the Exception I do not Believe : NO PERSON

ex A according to the return filed with Revenue Canada 2006
which contains the following informaition
Total assets (add lines 4100 to 4170) 4200 $ 91,819,209
Total liabilities 4350 $ 30,971,117

Total revenue 4700 $ 34,132,438
Total expenditures (add lines 4950, 5050, 5060 and 5070) 5100 $ 30,375,855

that leaves a 2006 Profit of roughly $4 M I know the numbers in the US are significantly higher

Since JW do no "works" outside of their organization

What is the money for ?

Good question :)
I think they believe that every penny that goes in gets spent on printing literature. Ha ha!

Jehovah's Witnesses use their financial resources primarily to support their preaching and teaching work, which is the work Christ actually assigned to the Christian congregation. That largely includes supporting branch offices, missionary homes, and traveling ministers, as well as producing bibles and bible-based publications (which are offered at no charge).

(Matthew 28:19-20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

With over 100,000 congregations around the globe, Jehovah's Witnesses also recognize that a typical group of their brothers in a developing land often cannot on their own afford to build a safe, inviting place of worship. Funds (and expertise) are made available by the global congregation.

Jehovah's Witnesses also use their resources for the practical needs of their disaster-stricken brotherhood and neighbors, as demonstrated by their remarkable record for efficient, expeditious disaster relief (such as rebuilding literally thousands of hurricane-ravaged homes along the Gulf Coast in the United States from 2005-2007).

In many parts of the world, Witnesses are also well-known for their literacy classes.

This is an older question, kinda missed it.

I volunteered at a Museum that was a not for profit. You know what, there were times, when they made one. They were so excited as this meant they could look into expansions of their works. Ditto for us:D

all tax free..I am sure it will be used for good in helping in a disaster or something like that..But, why can't they help with the hunger in America and around the world right now..For those who are not of the religion and those who are ..Other religions contribute to these needs..but do the JW's? Why can't they give to the needy...That is what Jesus told us to do.

NOTE: Exactly what did I say that would give me thumbs down? Nothing "bad" was said..What is wrong with suggesting that some of the money be used to feed the hungry, and give to the needy like other religions do? Why..is that wrong to do..because you are trying to be no part of the world? Don't you think this is carring that to extremes..

A non-profit organization does not mean no profit is made.
The extra goes in the kitty for the following year's expenses .....and emergencies.
They are forever helping out when catastrophies strike.
