It may take a while but the right thing to do is to compose a standard response letter and reply to each job poster who responds to you. I understand your frustration in looking for a new job but you have now raised the hopes of all those people in thinking they were applying to a real job. Just something stating that you appreciate their time but the job is no longer open.

LOL - you are very creative - that's a great way to find out your competition and get some pointers on how other people write their resumes! Good for you - as for those who said shame on you - an advertisement for a position is just an ad - it's not a guarantee of an interview or even a consideration. I once went through an extensive interview process with test and everything only to have the company decide not to create the position they were considering me for. Now THAT's false hope!

I too have taken that approach. as a causalty of the mortgage industry, we got paid really well when business was up, but now, thousands of layoffs and when I am looking for a job, I know darn well that I will not be making the same $$ as before, I have been putting either zeroes or thay I will disclose my income in person when filling out an app. or even undercutting what I made in the past. Heck, 2 of my past 3 employers are closed down, anyway.

It does suck when you know that you have the right qualifications for a job and you are 1 of 1000 ppl who apply for it. dont lose hope and you'll find something. sometimes too, if your over qualified they wont hire you cuz you have to much experience and the money could be an issue in there eyes. good thinking in lowering your expected pay rate.

The company I worked for made the mistake of posting a job opening on Monster.com. We couldn't keep paper in the fax (and it held 2 reams). And not a one of them were qualified for the position.
The funniest one was a multilingual geologist who's cover letter insisted he was the perfect candidate with his fluent Japanese and extensive background in oil fields.
The position was administative/clerical.

What an excellent / creative idea. You are worth 80 K at least . Do not lose the faith .... keep looking and upgrading your education and skills.
Eventually it will change and employees will be calling the shots. When it's your market / right time, you will change.
I love your initiative . Don't lose the faith !
