In the dogs I have had they usually sit down and scrape their butts along on the ground.

The vet will announce it once he does a fecal test on the stool sample you provide him...

You CANNOT always tell when your dog has worms.. You can not always just look at a poop and say YES or NO.. You should have the dog properly tested.. Forget the home visual and do it properly.. If you allow your dog to be full of worms you are opening him up to picking up different diseases.. Worms are great at destroying the stomach lining. Disease is easy to pick up when the stomach lining is destroyed.. PROPERLY have your dog tested for worms and parasites. You are doing him a disservice by pretending you can see worms with the naked eye all the time.

The best place to look is at their feces once they potty. Worms are usually little white things- almost like a grain of rice. However, there are numerous types of worms and not all can be seen in the feces. If the puppy is constantly licking it's bottom or rubbing it against the carpet- it needs to be seen by a vet and checked for worms.
If you think your dog has them, take it to the vet and they will do a fecal exam and get it dewormer. It isn't expensive at all and worms can make dogs severly ill if not treated.

Swollen belly, although not always and you can sometimes see them in their stool (again not always). Take it to the vet they'll do a fecal test and give the pup meds for it. When I was little, my sister got a dog and when he yawned, a worm came out of his mouth. He had worms bad!

Pretty much all puppies have worms, they come from their mother's milk. That's why they get de-wormed a couple of times as a pup.

you take the puppy and a stool sample to the vet.

sometimes you can see them in the dog's stool... but just because you see ONE type of worm, doesn't mean that he doesn't have more than one type.

with luck, he doesn't have them at all.

(all puppies need to go to the vet and have their shots and a physical... and it's the law to have rabies vaccinations in many states).

his belly will look really full, also if you watch his no. 2, you can sometimes see them. If you think he has worms and is within weight and age, it would be safe to worm him yourself or take him to a vet. They can tell you everything. Good Luck

If you see them in his/her poop. Or he/she is like coughing and they are coming out that way. Worms are in the poop...the eggs get in the grass where they eat the grass. So the eggs then develop in the belly...this is the reason why their bellies are so big. So as the worms start moving up the esophagus they start to cough. Sometimes they like spit them out but most of the times they end up going in the lungs. So get him.her checked out as soon as possible.
