This sounds like Anxiety to me, deppression is a little different. I was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) when i was 15, and it went alot like you discribed, my breaking point was one day in an airplane when every worse case scenario popped into my mind and it almost drove me to walk out of the airport. There are medications you can get for this, or you can try meditating, talk to a doctor and they will be able to help you

First of all, I am sorry you are having these feelings. It is normal to worry about the things you have mentioned to a certain extent. It sounds, however, that you are worrying more than the average person. Do you suffer from low self esteem? I think that may be a major component to the way you are feeling. You also mentioned being in class, so if you are high school age, these feelings are even more common. As far as depression, I'm not sure I would use that label. It sounds to me more like an anxiety problem. I encourage you to do some research on anxiety disorders on the internet or just bring it up at your next doctor's appointment. Anxiety can be treated, so there is relief. If you ever need someone to talk to, please feel free to email me. I hope you get the answers and treatment you need soon. Good luck!

Many people out there worry just like you do. It becomes a problem when it starts to interfere in normal everyday activities. Like if the worrying starts preventing you from enjoying many things that you normally would enjoy. Worry can be a sign of depression but not the only sign. You could also be experiencing GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). It is best to speak to your school counselor about this or your school nurse. Just explain to them that you worry a lot about things and keeps you up at night. You don't know if its a problem and want to make sure. Its good that you know you have a problem...its the first step in getting some help.

What is depression?

The first thing to address is why you think others think your stupid. That is called mind-reading and is not a very helpful way of thinking.

So what you are telling me is that you are thinking negatively. There is always another way or two or three of looking at a situation.

The guy you looked at was probably waiting for you to smile and say hi. He probably feels the same way about you that you do about him.

The trick to self-confidence is to not focus on how you feel, but to focus on getting other people to feel better.

When you look at someone, just try saying Hi and smiling. They'll think you are just being friendly.

i had this for the longest time.

I had to go to a therapist and everything.

Its mainly a self-confidence issue. and anxiety is what is probably keeping you awake at night.

I would go to a doctor and see if they can help diagnose you and get you a prescription for the anxiety.

and try to start building your confidence up. Be more out going. You'll see that you ARENT weird. and look at all of the most popular kids in school...they all do really wierd things.

Like in my school there was this one kid who was REALLY REALLY popular and he one day he accidentally farted and made it into a joke. (lol Im still not that confident but its getting better)

Really try to tell yourself that nobody ever thinks of you as much as you do. because its true!
it really is true that you are your toughest critic.

Be yourself. Dont be so shy...get out there,

and you dont have to go all out and be wild right off the bat....but teach yourself that its ok.

This sounds like social anxiety. A combination of medication and counseling is the best treatment. See your physician or a counselor for a diagnosis.

Well, some people truly are born worriers..they worry about everything..the key is to rationalize...you are in their group and from now on, don't comment to them and do your thing..get your good grades, and if someone says something, say that they made you feel like you are dumb and that is why you decided to keep quiet or just get into another class

Could be anxiety? Sometimes some of the milder anti-depressants can help with this too. Look into seeing the counselor or psychologist at your school too, they can help!
