Grosse!

Begins in the early second century with the Nativity of Mary(Protoevangelium of James). Origen states belief in Mary’s perpetual virginity as does Ignatius of Antioch, and by the 4th century everyone believes it except Tertullian and the Jovinians who were condemned at Milan for rejecting the doctrine. I will just never get this anxiety over sex among desert monotheists. I wish the med would all castrate themselves and the women would get their vaginas sewed shut so we'd be rid of them all in a generation.

I think Mary's virginity and the idea of the virgin birth is similar to the concepts behind the transubstantiation: The 'essence' was that she had an immaculate conception, caused by god and the 'accidental' is that she was impregnated by Joseph.

Now if you excuse me, I have to take a lump of iron and transubstantiate it into gold. I can make a tidy profit selling this gold to the gullible.

What a twisted question.

As a Catholic I do not recall being taught to believe in Mary's "perpetual virginity" and I am certain that her hymen was never mentioned.

the Holy Bible is very clear that Jesus had at least 2 sisters:

Matthew 13:53-57

53 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?"

Catholics stubbornly hold on to their self-serving, man glorifying doctrines at any cost.

Well Maximum Bob:
You have a choice to make:
The Bible or the catholic church.
You see, the Bible states Mary was NOT a perpetual virgin.
So, what will you choose?

The Bible says that Jesus had half brothers and sisters so Mary was only a virgin when Christ was conceived and when Christ was born. Afterwards, Mary had more children. James was a half brother to Jesus.

You're silly. Anyway, the hymen can be broken while the female is still a virgin. It can occur during many other physical activities.

Jesus had other brothers,so I guess Joseph was the one who kept Holy(and gave Briths?to spare her the loss of something so useful for married women)all those years in Egypt and after

Unless he couldn't.But,hey!then how comes Jesus would descend from David Royal House w/o him?

EDIT_Lunatsrom,then Jesus was Jesus barMaria? and Salomon, not the son of David but the former Queen to be King as well?and so,Jesus is the descendant not of David but his wife.

Nice.

So, is Mary's virginity going to be the topic of all of the silly questions today? If so, I think I'll go take a nap.

This is a totally appropriate question.

Christian believe that marry did consemate her marriage to joseph. If she didn't then she was living in sin.

Catholic believe wierd stuff that i have never seen in the bible.

But out of respect maybe delete this question
