I like the way George Carlin said it. One day the Earth is gonna shake us off like fleas.

We'll survive for a long time to come, but I think without immediate action to sustain our resources and stop our further expansion and destruction, the Earth is going to be one ugly, horrible place to live.
Look back as little as a hundred years ago and this vast planet has changed so much. Not for the better either. Sure, we solved the problem of small pox in the U.S., but now we have lung cancer and chemical poisoning from plastics. We have big buildings and fancy cars, but kids still go hungry and without medical care.
Mother nature may still control the weather and have a boat load of new diseases ready for us, but we've done a great job of destroying this place and ourselves all on our own.
It's always good to take in the big picture.

No, we should not let nature solve this problem. Since humans caused it with man-man objects, we should fix it. Plus, nature doesn't know how to fix this problem because we created it. You are right, the earth will last for like ever (hopefully) but humans won't, and if we don't do something now before it's too late nobody will even exist soon. Get hybrid cars, recycle paper, turn off your computer at night and save energy and electricity, and get your whole community to do this with you.

Absolutely not. We are the reason the planet is suffering and we can't just sit around and wait for natural disasters to kill people off and think that will be sufficient. We've got to stop using up the planet's resources the way we are if we want to survive.

It's not nice to fool mother nature! She's a great old gal and she will always correct what is wrong with the balance in nature. Unfortunately, you and I will not be taken into consideration when she does this. You have a choice. You can correct your mistakes before mother nature does, or you can learn to live with her corrections. No amount of whining or squalling will make a bit of difference. Mother nature will ALWAYS win. Whether you win or not is your own choice.

i am aged 60 now. when I was a kid I have seen my village with green cover every where, birds water ponds and tanks with pure water, cool bearable weather, rainy when comes the correct season, fresh air, less population,
years have gone.......
now ,the whole village has turned into buildings ,thick population, busy rush,dried-up tanks, water scarcity, dirty roads, polluted air, heavy lashing of rains,or no rain at all, scorching weather, unbearable heat,A/C in all the buildings, domestic as well as commercial.dried up farm lands, unhappy and poor farmers, wide difference between rich and the poor, lots of medical shops - lots of unknown deceases, absence of birds, and .........and.
all these changes happened or created by man.
you CANT IGNORE.
But it is already late,
Better late than never.
may be I will pass away, before anything happens to me and my human race,
I fear my grand-grand children might suffer, since it might become very difficult for the human race to survive then.
why cant we do something,so that we could make the human race survive, at the least up to my grand-grand children's period of living.
pl.could anyone, any powerful nation,or all the nations that have atomic, nuclear weapons ,sophisticated air-crafts,stealth varieties --- suggest some thing to stop,or prevent ,or at least delay the destruction of human race, until my grand- grand kids living period.pl............pl.....

Yes we should let Nature solve the environmental problems. We're part of Nature though.

That is just a cop out. "Ignore and wait" really means "ignore and continue actively doing wrong". Because continuing to pollute is not waiting; it is doing continued wrong. We are causing the problems so waiting really means "not stopping causing them" and is a misuse of the word "wait" which really means "stop doing anything for a time".

It is our fault that the earth is suffering. We blame it on the earth but it is us who has done the injustice to it. Gas Fumes, Landfills, Deforestation, polluting. What world are you living in? We have to get up off our butts before its to late!

But you've just answered your own question...
I agree with you, Earth will eventually balance itself out. Nevertheless, that shall cost the existence of many species, certainly including our own, unless we take imediate action.
Earth will struggle its way out, yes, but that struggling implies a major change that will crush us all...
So the real question is whether human race should undertake to save itself (along with other species) or not.
To that, my answer is why the hell not? It's not like we have anything better to do than saving our own arses... is it?
