First, you need to understand that it's a mortal sin -- a serious, grave sin that can send you to hell. If you're Protestant, you probably have not been taught that, but according to Catholic doctrine it's unequivocally wrong.

Second, avoid being alone as much as possible. The more you're alone the more you're going to dwell on it.

Third, if you must be alone, keep yourself busy. The best kind of busyness, to avoid this problem, is physical busyness -- clean your room, build something, work out with weights, etc.

But on the most basic level, you can't break the habit if you are not absolutely convinced that you must, because when you weigh the pleasure against the need to stop, the pleasure will always win -- UNLESS you are convinced that it's a serious, mortal sin that can do you serious spiritual damage. Until you realize how serious it is, it will always defeat you.

Another thing to keep in mind is that sexual activity is NOT a necessity. You will not die or get sick or go crazy (or blind) if you abstain from it. Those are myths. There is nothing physically or psychologically harmful about disciplining your bodily desires and controlling yourself. It builds character and is, spiritually, one of the best things you can do. You are a man, not an animal. Remember your human dignity as one made in God's image.

I would suggest reading the books I list below. I read the books and it talks all about how to stop masturbating and looking at porn and ways to prevent the devil from tempting you. It helped me and many others!

Every Man's Battle or Every Young Man's Battle (more for the unmarried person not necessarily young in age)

Also, do not let others talk you into believing its alright to do that, because it is not! That is the devil in disguise. He has led the world we live in today to believe that is alright. It isn't.

I'm Christian; I think it is not a sin if you have self control. It is like the alcoholic, drinking too much is the problem.

As the first poster said... its natural.

Sorry about your christianity. You should try reading nonfiction... go to the library. Go to the history, science, and philosophy sections.

As far as religion goes, help yourself to as much of it as you feel. But cardinally, if you do it too much, it will be hard for a woman to get it "right" because you are use to yourself.
