Peter said, "You are the Christ. The Son of the Living God."

THAT is the question. Who do you say Jesus is?

It's a one question test..................... a wrong answer means you will be judged by the Law. There is no citeria like "I was a good person" or "I was a member of a church" - it is all answered in - did you receive the forgiveness offered through Christ, or didn't you?

Nice point. I have heard many sermons from this, all good ones.
When asked, the disciples responded by saying what others had said, pretty much just giving a report.
Then, it was a DIRECT question to them.
So it is to all. How sad so many just listen to what others say He is, without doing their own thinking. Too often, they just swallow whole whatever they hear and choose to believe that, istead of discovering for themselves who He really IS.

Many will say "Jesus was a great teacher" or "Jesus was a prophet. Mohammad was a greater prophet."

The trouble is, when you look at the things Jesus actually SAID, that is not an option. It has to be one of the following...

1) He was a raving lunatic who belonged in an asylum.

2) He was a liar and an egomaniac who didn't see the end coming (wrong - he did)

3) He was (and is) exactly what he claimed.

Want to know why the religious leaders wanted to kill him? Here are a few direct quotes...

He was asked if he thought the was greater than their ancestor, Abraham

"Before Abraham was, I AM"

At which point they wanted to kill him. So why did they all get so upset? Because every time Jesus used the words "I AM" he was actually using the holy name of God which was never spoken... the closest most probable English translation being "Yahweh".

His disciple Philip asked, "Master, show us the Father"

Jesus said "Philip, you've been with me for three years now. Don't you know me yet? If you've seen me, you've seen the Father"

The high priest asked during the trial before the crucification, "Are you the Christ"

Jesus said, "I AM"

At which point the high priest tore his robes -- which by way, was a big thing... because according to the law in the Old Testament, a priest was NEVER to tear his robes (it's something that was done when in mourning).

A young man whose father is a carpenter grows up working in his father's shop. He has no formal education. He owns no property of any kind. One day he puts down his tools and walks out of his father's shop. He starts preaching on street corners and in the nearby countryside. Walking from place to place preaching all the while even though he is in no way an ordained minister he never gets farther than an area perhaps 100 miles wide at the most. He does this for three years. Then he is arrested, tried and convicted. There is no court of appeal so he is executed at age 33 along with two common thieves. Those in charge of his execution roll dice to see who gets his clothing -- the only possessions he has. His family cannot afford a burial place so he is interred in a borrowed tomb. End of story? No, this uneducated, property less young man who preached on street corners for only three years who left no written word has for 2000 years had a greater effect on the entire world than all the rulers, kings and emperors, all the conquerors, the generals and admirals, all the scholars, scientists and philosophers who ever lived -- all put together. How do we explain that? . . . Unless he really was what he said he was.

Jesus is Christ-the Son of the Living God!

John 1:40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

Mat 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Many see a contradiction here, some see the truth as it is revealed by God.
Many like Andrew speak the truth but the truth is revealed to a man by God.
We receive the truth by revelation of the Holy Spirit.

God bless you as Christ said to Peter the truth was revealed to you by God.

I think a lot of peopled have been deluded into believing its as simple as that .Its no good thinking your saved by grace alone .the Bible makes it clear enough that once a person accepts Jesus they must live a blameless life

John

6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

its plain enough for anyone to understand
a person who says that Jesus is in their life but still carries on with sinful ways ,hasn`t accepted jesus and isnt saved
its saying a person who truely accepted wouldn`t be capable of sin

I don't know about you... but my forgiveness was from God... because Jesus The Christ paid my sin debt with His Blood. and it is only becaus Christ Paid my debt that I was able to come to God when I needed Him and receive His free gift of Salvation.

I know that Jesus The Christ... when he walked this Earth 2,000+yrs ago... was Both, Fully God and fully man.
