Well... they don't do it for kicks & giggles!!

Could be cavities... could be due to damage to the tooth... could be for any other numerous other conditions.

The front teeth are the teeth we least want to lose, our identity is tied to how we look in public.

A tooth can be damaged, such as falling and hitting your teeth on concrete, in a bike or car accident maybe by a hard ball. Anything endangering or exposing the root to the air.
Cavities can also damage the tooth so severely that it endangers the life of the tooth. Sometimes a tooth will absess and die. By doing a root canal, removing the nerve and bloodflow to the tooth, we can preserve it and extend its time in its natural location in our mouth.

Dentures can be used, but are usually not as firm and secure for eating and biting. These days people can get expensive implants with an attached replacement false tooth. But compared to your healthy natural tooth, the natural one with a root-canal to preserve it longer is the second best choice.

(Don't worry. They give you pain medication. Your mouth may feel "traumatized", but you'll go back to work that day)
