1996 Dale Earnhardt crash. Worst of his carreer untill Daytona of course. Broke his collar bone. Had to step out of his car the following week, 1st time in his carrer that spanned some 26 years. I have included a link to see the crash. Although horrible it's an awesome sight.

Using the words "great" and "crash" in the same sentence is not too good, but I get the point. Ricky Craven's wild ride and Earnhardt Sr's big wreck are probably the top 2. Bobby Allison tearing down the fence changed the future of the sport in one moment, so you might say that Allison has the biggest impact on the sport. It's just always nice that these guys all got to walk away. Unfortunately, someday, someone is not going to be so lucky. Rusty Wallace's trip through the frontstretch infield is pretty unforgettable also.

The worst one I have personally saw was October 2004 on the last lap a big 1 with Elliot Sadler crossing the finish line airborne and upside down. At Talladega I was there

Every answer is good but I'd have to go with the 1993 diehard 500 when Jimmy Horton going airborne and over the turn 1 fench at Talladega, look at "youtube" "1993 diehard 500-the big one-live"

Well, Dale's crash in '96 was a pretty wild ride, but I vote for the trip Elliott Sadler took in 2003 on his top after rolling quite a few times, they kept showing it in slomo and his windshield fell out and popped back in

2005, Michael Waltrip gets airborn, does a couple barrel rolls and loses his entire rear axel....in mid air. His response: "Man I was havin' fun! First the world was right, then it wasn't. Then it was right again, and then it wasn't."
