Original Christianity considered women to be the "gateway of the DEVIL".

So unclean and evil that pious men would renounce ever touching them.

This is why Christians say there will be no gender or sex in heaven.

They consider women too dirty to enter so everyone will be genderless. Early Christian theology taught that everyone will be turned into men and then enter paradise.

In the Catholic Church, the roles of priests, bishops, Cardinals and Popes have gone to men. Traditionally, the view is that Christ gave the "keys of the kingdom" to his disciples/Apostles who were men. Then, the roles have passed down through the ages to men.

In some churches, like Episcopal and Methodist, for example, women have roles as priests and bishops (I think).

There is a legend that a woman had a brief reign as Pope (Pope Joan). She disguised herself as a man and rose through the ranks. There is a great novel about this, "Pope Joan" by Donna Woolfolk Cross.

There are many who disagree with this- and feel that women would make great priests. Time will tell if this changes. But, don't hold your breath.

Lots of misinformation when it comes to Paul.

There are a large number of biblical scholars who believe that Paul's assertion in Corinthians was a scriptural gloss (a marginal note by a scribe that was later inserted directly into text). After all, there are ancient versions of Paul's letter to the Corinthians that don't have the passage in question, and even in the ones that do, the passage is not always present at the same place in the text.

And, for the person who cites Paul's letters, you forget that Paul contradicts himself. After all, in his letter to the Romans, he appoints Phoebe to serve as the Deacon to the congregation of Rome, which was the equivalent to today's presiding priest. Now, if Paul disapproved of women in the Pulpit, then why did he appoint a woman to lead the Christian community in the ancient world's most important city? Why does he instruct the congregation to do what she requires of them? Further, why does he praise other women in positions of authority such as Junia?

Nobody seems to have a good answer for this. So maybe Paul's position on women isn't as clearcut as you would like to believe.

It is so because Jesus Christ revealed His will on the matter by selecting 12 out of 12 men as His first priests, even though he had many holy women available to choose from, including the most exalted saint of the Church, His mother. If Jesus had wanted priestesses in His Church, surely He would have ordained at least one, in order to reveal His will. Since He did not, His actions are taken as a clear expression of the will of God, just as clear as if He had stated it in words, and the Church has no authority to violate His stated will.

Many have answered stating PAULINE doctrines. Of course, we all know that you are discussing the Roman Catholic Church, so it would be smart to ask Catholics why this is so.

It has NOTHING to do with Pauline thought.

Pope John Paul 2 said that since Christ chose men as His apostles, that the Church is bound to uphold this. If Christ had wanted women to be among his apostles, he would have chosen one of us to be.

He was certainly counter-cultural in His acceptance of women. And, in that time, Pagan religions did have priestesses. He wouldn't have shocked anyone if he did have women as Apostles.

Women can and do have roles in the Church. The Church doesn't hate women. I don't feel oppressed, etc.

from the time of the start of the church in ad 33 and the end of the church age in 1988 women were not to preach in churches but now that satan rules in the church(, there are about 60 women preachers worldwide.

II Corinthians 11:14-15: And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Matthew 24:15-16: When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains.

see the mountain are jesus u need to flee into him, the abomination of desolation is Satan and the holy place he speaks of is the local churches as u see in II corinthians Satan is transformed into an angel of light. His ministers seem to be ministers of righteousness but they are actually teaching you a false gospel so to God pastors today are commiting spiritual murder because u cannot be saved in any church today.

The Catholic Church currently teaches:

The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry.

The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.

Because that's the will of Jesus- who only chose men as his apostles.
Priests are also a living image of Jesus-who is male-who still works in His Church through the Sacraments.

Mother Teresa would be the first to defend the Church's teaching on the male priesthood.
