The speed would be very difficult. Camacho was naturally alot bigger but I am going to say yes Sanchez would have won.

The big question mark in this match up is how Sanchez would've fared at 130. We're only talking 4 lbs. more than the featherweight limit, I'm thinking Sanchez would've handled it. Sanchez was just the more well rounded fighter. A crisp, accurate counter puncher, an extremely underrated body puncher, with an iron chin. He wasn't a one punch knockout fighter, many of his fights were stopped because he would wear his opponents down with crisp counter punching. He also had the ability, because of his ring savvy when the time was right, to press the fight in the later rounds. He wore Gomez, Nelson and other opponents down and then forced them to the ropes with accurate body punching and often times the referee would stop the fight. The advantages Camacho would have are quicker hands and a chin on par with Sanchez. Surprisingly there really is no determinable size advantage between the two fighters (Sanchez 5' 7", Camacho 5' 6 1/2"). Due to Sanchez's accurate counter punching he inflicts damage to Camacho's face and the fight is stopped in the latter rounds on a TKO as Camacho is unable to continue because of damage to his eyes.

I disagree with all of you. These two were two of my favorite fighters in the early 80s. Sanchez was a technician, NOT aa puncher like some of you think, most of who never even saw him fight. He was my idol but I also admired Camacho at 130 because he was the best until late 1984 when a youngster out of Culiacan Sinaloa won the title over a young and rugged Mario "Azabache" Martinez. This youngsters name was Julio Cesar Chavez and he picked up where Sanchez left off, only with more power. Camacho wisely moved up to 135 in 1985. Boxing matches are about styles and if Chavez could slow down Camacho back in 1992 then I believe a young Salvador Sanchez could have figured him out as well. Sal was not your typical plodding bodypunching Mexican fighter. I would guess that Salvador would have won a close 12 or 15 round decision over one of the best 130 pounders of all time, and yes, Macho Camacho was that good at that weight. If you get a chance, check him out on youtube against Rafael Solis or Jose Luis Ramirez.

Salvador Sanchez was way too good an all round fighter for Camacho. He was disciplined, threw razor sharp punches with accuracy, had a chin of iron and refused to lose just like Marciano. He would have torn into Camacho from the opening bell and would have knocked him out in 7 rounds.

No way, Camacho was so quick at 130 that Sanchez would rarely have even seen him, and then to think that for once in his life Camacho would be fighting someone smaller than he was, I'd say Camacho wins an easy decision.

To me this would be like Roy Jones winning every minute of every round against James Toney all over again.

Sanchez was a good little man fighter so was Camacho. Lets think though Camacho around 130lbs was not as defensive minded as Sanchez. Remember Camacho's fight with "Chapo" and he got clocked with a left hook and was in big trouble for the remander of round 5. I would have to give this to Sanchez by stopppage by Camacho's corner due to accurate counter-punching. Note: Sanchez wore out these fighters Lopez 2x (rounds 14 &13) Gomez (round 8) and Nelson( round 14 - his only ko of his career).

Salvador Sanchez would of won an easy decision over Camacho. Remember that Salvador Knocked out Azuma Nelson when Azuma was a strong young fighter. Salvador is one of the most underrated great fighters of all time, due to his early death. He would take any challengers as for camacho how many years did he duck Chavez? Camacho was more flash than substance.

I truly believe Sanchez could've handled Camacho. It would've been a good fight to see, but like I mentioned, I think Sanchez would've came out a winner by decision.

he would have beaten camacho easy! at 130 camacho wanted no part of wilfredo gomez or bobby chacon(and they both were past their prime) or roger mayweather. sanchez was a level above camacho.
