Does "freedom" tend to help or hinder us on our walk with Christ. I think it hinders us.

Thoughts?

So you're saying that to help you be more moral or "Christ like", we need to make civic rules to enforce your morality on the rest of us? Isn't that rather selfish and arrogant?

Has legislating morality ever worked?

I disagree. Freedom allows us to walk with Christ very easily. Consider if you live in a country where it was illegal to practice Catholicism. You would not be able to go to Mass every day like you can in the USA. Being able to go to Mass every day would help in a person's walk with Christ.

You may be talking about the fact that with civil liberties, there is also the opportunity to go down a path that leads away from Christ. Without those civil liberties, it would be easier to stay on the path to Christ, but the cost is too high.

A society that trades freedom for security deserves neither.

I thought freedom to be able to worship was why Christians from Europe came here in the first place.

They wanted to get away from England and parts of Europe where the government MANDATED what you ought to believe and how you ought to worship and based all its rules around just ONE version of Christianity, which ended up exclusing and persecuting those from other Christian sects.

Now you want to bring that same thing here again?

Talk about moving backwards.

If you don't agree that America should be Land of The Free Home Of The Brave, then you are welcome to leave.
