The book of numbers is just like our modern day census bureau except it was done in bible time. Why would there be more math? Math is not neccessary back then they could basically still trace the family back to the family of origin. So I guess that is what else is different. It is more like a family tree.

Yeah very good point. Some people say that the Bible is the only education that children need, but I cannot recall any long division or algebra anywhere....And I know the bible better than probably 90% of the Christians I have met.
