Post-menopausal women are not as easily aroused once certain hormones evaporate. But if a woman has a loving husband who appreciates the need to take a bit more time and trouble to interest her in love-making (as opposed to mere sex), they will both be rewarded with a really satisfying union. If God created us only to enjoy sex when fertile, then women would be like animals, 'coming into season' at certain times and refusing advances until then. We are not animals. We respond to love. We have emotions. We see in the tri-unity of God something of the wonder of 'oneness' between two people. It is a spiritual thing - or was meant to be. Christian couples who know that can enjoy sex for as long as they are physically capable of it. That is the way God made us. And a great deal of intelligence went into all of that! Once you are at 'a certain age' you'll begin to appreciate it more!

I know, right? Im 50 years old, definitely past breeding age. Someone better tell my very good gentleman friend that his proposal of marriage will have to be turned down because I cannot have children anymore. So? Who's going to step up and give him the bad news? I'll pass on the beating and ostracized thing though. I mean, they can try it, but I've got a black belt AND a shotgun, so I don't think they'll have much luck. EDIT: To facepalm kitteh: I used to think that too, but by the time you get here to menopause you'll be VERY VERY happy to be done with that monthly nonsense. And nothing else really changes. Keep active and happy, and you don't turn into a shriveled old shrew by any means. And, you got THAT right Off Grid Granny. Well said.

Sex is the mechanism for procreation. It's also a very intense pleasure for people to share. After menopause, the risk of pregnancy is no longer a concern, so men and women can continue to share the pleasures of intimacy. It's still important for married couples to enjoy sex and studies show that many do, long after they can procreate.

It is basic biology.
Sex is not just for procreation. We were given these wonderful bodies to enjoy and increase the bond between our partners through physical contact.
We are the only species that continues to mate and mate for life so to speak without procreation being a possibility.

Who says sex is only for procreation? The Bible sure doesn't say that. Check out the book of Song of Solomon in the Bible as excellent support for sex for the sake of enjoyment, not just procreation.

Forget the arousal of post-menopausal women, if sex is only for procreation then what in the world is the clitoris for?

Sex is not only for procreation. What so called Christian told you that? The Bible does not say that. Sex is to be enjoyed by a man and a woman who are married.

I am not sure where that idea came from I have certainly not ever heard of that and I went through menopause when I was 25. It did not make me want sex any less.

God is an intelligent designer. He knows that women get aroused when love making. So? Sex is for love making also.
The moral of the story is that love produces life. So? Also love making is eternal rewards. Faith Hope & Love is everlasting. The greatest of these is love. All forms of love. There in heaven love does abound.
Adulteries & fornications is not love; it is lust of the flesh.

God designed sex for more than one purpose. The first mentioned at the Bible is procreation but it is not the only one.
