When I have a stuffy or runny nose I guess I sort of "smell" something in my nose. I can't even describe it. What is that "smell"? What causes it?

It's bacterial infections common found in runny noses and congested sinuses. You're actually smelling the decomposition of the mucus. It is indeed gross.

Keep blowing your nose and take decongestants as directed and the stuff will drain in no time. However, if you do have a sinus infection, you will need to take antibiotics to fight the bacteria inside the sinuses.

I know what you mean, but I have no idea. I guess it's related to bad breath only from your sinuses.
