Arf I'm just interested in different answers and opinions. If indeed the Dead Sea Scrolls were translated would men translate it to their personal belief or would they be honest with their findings?

It's an archaeological find... I'm fascinated by the copper scroll, not from the treasure potential but why it was there and what did it mean to them.

They're an amazing find, with some great information. The archaeologist in me cringes to think of the treatment they've been through, and what condition they're in, but not much can be done about that after the fact.

I'm honestly a little surprised that more hasn't been made of them - their discovery was big news, of a sort, then they just sorta fell off the radar. Even with there being translations available, seems like most people haven't read them, and aren't terribly interested in doing so.

It is definitely the oldest written evidence discovered thus far that corroborates the many scriptural texts found in the Bible.

However it deserves a much closer scrutiny since its contents [900 documents] offer so much controversy about the diverse religious beliefs and traditions at the time when they were written, as well as about that very important sect [the Brotherhood of ESSENES] that somehow are NOT MENTIONED at all in the Bible as we know it today.

How come??? It's a good whodunit mystery indeed...

Peace be with you.

To me presently, they are credible evidence of the scriptures. Further, to me they settle the 'difference' between Catholics and Protestants about whether to include the 7 books (of dispute) in scripture or not. (Settlement in favor of the Catholics; I was raised (and a deacon) in a Protestant sect).

They are copies made by unprofessional scribes. Still, it demonstrates how little variance there is between copies to day, and those copies they had nearly 2000 years ago.

I believe they are not telling the world the full story.

Lots of deception used to hide the truth that was found.

I've never seen them and I don't read that language.
