I say no, I would never expose any children to second hand smoke, especially in a car where they can't get away from it. Sadly, I see mothers doing this all the time. I'm sure they know the health risks, so why continue to do it?

Because they are selfish, and are so hooked on those cigarettes, that the buzz they from smoking is more important than the health of their children. They just say, oh, they're alright, but there not.

Sad enough, I smoke but NOT in my house or in the car. Me and my husband always take it outside, even when its 10 below zero. I have 2 boys(1 with Asthma) and would never put their health at risk. Even if we are on a long road trip, and need a cigarette, we will stop and step outside the car. I do not think anyone should be allowed to smoke in the car with a child of any age.

Nope. The children shouldn't be exposed, nor should anyone else, for that matter, to smoke. People just don't care, sadly, how damaging it really is to anyone, let alone themselves. I can understand it being addicting, but, really, why start to begin with? I'll never get that part. To want to stink of smoke and crave lung cancer... hmmm, sounds appetizing. LOL.

Anyway... about the smoking in cars with kids. Never okay. I don't care if windows are rolled down, you're still slowly destroying little lungs around you.

And, those poor kids with asthma...

People just don't care, and they don't have common sense. Perhaps when lung cancer, emphysema, or other lung issues crop up, they'll care... oh, wait, then it's too late.

... Giggling at the thumbs down. The truth hurts, doesn't it? :)

No. My stepfather smokes and my brother had asthma for the first three years of his life because of the secondhand smoke and the mold in our old house. Now he is better aside from getting cancer at 4 and a broken leg and now a broken arm at 5. I would never smoke in front of my brother or my children. Plus smoking is bad for your health.

I am a smoker. I have 2 small children. I never smoke in the car or the house. I even change my clothes and wear my "smoking shirt" so they won't have to breathe it in when I hold them. I don't want them to suffer from my habit--it's mine, not theirs. I am trying to quit smoking but like all smokers will tell you, it's easier said than done. I hope they do pass the laws about not smoking around children in the car or house. I think they should do the same for pregnant women who smoke and charge them with child endangerment. It's a nasty habit--this coming from a pack-a-day smoker!

No, smoking is an unhealthing thing to do. I hate when I see parents smoking with their kids around them. One day I was at a fast food resturant with my husband and kids. We saw these two guys with a baby girl, she was very young, and they put her carseat on the ground when they ordered and ate. Then when they left, they put her on the ground outside by the door, and the two guys started smoking. I could not believe this. Then I am sitting there, with my husband, our twins and I'm pregnant. I just said to my husband, I'm happy we actually care about our kids.

No it's not, and it makes me sick every time I see it, which, sadly is pretty often. How is it that people still do not realize or care about the effects of second-hand smoke?

No, not in this day and age. As a child in the 80's, my parents smoked in front of me. But, as news about smoking and lung cancer increased-they stopped. My mom stopped smoking cold turkey 13 years ago.

In today's society, we know the smoking is THE worst thing we can do to our children.
