Corrected vision means your vision with corrective lenses (glasses) or contacts. You wil not be able to wear contacts at all time in the military and sometimes willhave to wear glasses (on manuevers and in the gas chamber). Once you get past training you can wear contacts more often.

Most agencies (Military, FBI, CIA, police departments) who have a vision standards require 20/20 corrected. Many have limits on uncorrected vision, like no worse than 20/200 uncorrected (without glasses).

Talk to the recruiter to see what the uncorrected and corrected standard is. You can then go to your local eye doctor to get tested to see if you meet those standards. If your current eyeglass prescription does not correct to 20/20, get a new pair that does BEFORE your military physical.

Good luck. And I love my country too. 22 years in Army.

P.S. I had 20/400 vision in each eye. Got LASIK surgery six years ago and now have 20/20 uncorrected in both eyes. Before you contemplate surgery to correct your vision, check with the Marines to see if LASIK or other vision correction surgery is a disqualifier.. Most of the time it is NOT but some agencies (including the military) may require a waiting period after the surgery before you can enlist.

Corrected vision means the vision you have with your glasses or contacts on. Here's the requirements with your glasses on:
20/40 in the better eye. 20/70 in the other.
20/30 in the better eye. 20/100 in the other.
20/20 in the better eye. 20/400 in the other.
Near vision has to be 20/40 in the better eye.
Your refractive index on your glasses or contact lenses cannot exceed plus or minus 8.00 diopters. This last one can be waivered.

Yes, it mean Glasses or Contacts. May even include a type of eye surgery with the technology of today. But, the bottom line, is you do something or wear something that give you 20/20.

Corrected vision is your measured vison while you are wearing glasses or contacts. That is stated that way because some people can not get thier vison to these standards, even with glasses.

Its the measurement of your vision when corrected by glasses or contacts.

You can still join, but you will be issued a special pair of "birth control glasses" ( because people never get laid with them)
