And since we do not suffer in Heaven, does that mean we have no free will?

First, I gotta say - love the avatar. Where in the world did you find it?

Regarding your question:

We can suffer through the free will of another (think Osama and 9/11 here), through our own poor choices (if I get drunk and then get behind the wheel of a car for instance), but the random suffering you refer to actually started back in the garden through Adam's free will.

Adam had God-given authority and dominion over creation....not over other men like we see today, but over the animals and tilling of the soil (etc). When Adam bowed the knee to the devil, creation "fell" with Adam, resulting in natural disaster such as you describe. It's not God's judgment, but Adam's stupidity that opened the door to what we suffer today.....but thankfully believers can look to the Lord for deliverance and protection, not only in the hereafter, but in the here and now.

Not suffering in heaven means that without the hindrance of evil influence from our own flesh, the world's system, or the devil, that the desires of those who go to heaven will be perfectly in tuned with God's...and since His perfect will is no suffering - then in heaven we will not suffer, because we will not be coming against His perfect will for us.

That's why Jesus instructed us to pray that God's will would be done on earth as it is in heaven....perfect peace, harmony, beauty, joy, love......

I realize from the tone of your question that you won't agree with this assessment, but since you address Christians and seem to seek an answer consistent with the Bible, then this is it.

Volcan eruptions happen as a course of the immutable and natural law of the changing planet in its evolution; and sometimes people are most unfortunate victims of the violent events stirred up by these momentous occurrences. Such things as volcanoes, tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes are all a part of the changing planet, and in no way signify God's wrath or even that God is doing this to people. All people suffer the consequences of natural disasters whether directly or indirectly, good or bad.

Nature is in its ultimate sense a creation of God which when it was set in motion billions of years ago in our solar system has a design and result that is in process of still becoming ... it is incomplete and as yet imperfect. We can't deny the world's face changes, weather changes, land masses change and so forth. If man happens to be in the way of this and doesn't do anything to overcome it and get out of the way he is much like a squirrel running across the tracks in front of a runaway freight train. Nature's course is set... and mankind must use his will and his intelligence to survive natural disasters. When people are killed in these stupendous events, they aren't really dead: they all have the chance to choose eternal survival.

If you saw a volcano about to erupt would you just stand there or would you run? What would your will be? What would God's will for you be?

Death is the result of original sin. There was no death before that (other than plants which do not have the breath of life in them). Free will determined that sin would enter the world because Adam made the wrong choice. Thus, volcano deaths are a result of original sin. If you make it to heaven you still have free will but you would never choose to leave or be unholy because all you want to do is worship God.

Guess your free will made someone move next to a volcano? There will be no sin in heaven so there will be no need to punish sinners. Even Christians suffer for sins while on this world.

Dear Friend,

Yes, we have a choice (free will) the Salvation of God, so that we don't have to suffer in Heaven, The free will is to accept the Lord Jesus Christ because He is savior and already suffer for us that we may have a hope in Him. After life of death, there are more suffer if we don't have Jesus in our
life. Yes, we have a choice to suffer or not to suffer!

Everyone has to die once of these day, soon or later in our times, but importantly Jesus came to save us, there is Salvation with Jesus who came to offer for us free gift!

We suffer because Adam and Eve chose to sin. Yes we do have free will and we don't suffer because of it. We suffer because we use it in the wrong ways. As far as natural deaths or deaths caused by nature itself there is really no explanation and anyone who tries to give you one is an idiot. I do not know if we have free will in Heaven or not but I know if we are in heaven there in no suffering and there is no pain only worshiping the All mighty Lord God.

OK, natural disasters aside, human sinful actions are what cause our own pain. The cause for natural disasters is an imperfect world that is currently "owned" by Satan. People didn't die from volcanoes before the fall.

Volcano angry, need sacrifice.

Looks like you finally broke K.W. down and he is resorting to the common Christian tradition of name calling, instead of defending a position with reason.

Bible School 101 when you run out of reason, call them stupid

Missing " 're" That is hilarious.

WE do not suffer from free will, we suffer from sin,if sin was not in the world we would have Eden all over the world.

If you mean people die because they live too close to volcanoes surely through their free will they chose to live there.
If that is not what you mean, I don't have a clue.
