but same race co-worker was as usual.....So I think I should catch a cold and call out on Monday and not be here. Why should I sit a work while "those folks" get to enjoy the day in the sun, eating and drinking. I think it is the rude, discrimanating and most of all FAKE on his behalf. So I am your friend in the office ....but NOT OUTSIDE? HMmmm Opinions on what you would do ?

I think that is rude and cruel. If you have an office outing then invite the ENTIRE office. That just isn't nice!
I think you might be coming down with a fever right now. Perhaps you should stay home - or at least away from work!
JERKS!

Well, it's kind of hard to tell what your boss' reason could be for not inviting you based on the information given. You seem to have jumped to the rather arbitrary conclusion that it has something to do with race. I'm saying that it's arbitrary because it appears that you have no spoken to him/her about this. Perhaps you're projecting something unintentionally?
If you're jumping to the conclusion that this person is discriminating against you because of the color of your skin without giving that person a chance to defend themselves or giving him/her the benefit of the doubt, you're not really a friend.
Outside of that, you really need to tell us how many people are in your office, what is the job title of the person who was invited and what is your job title, how long have you been at the company vs. how long the other person has been at the company, etc. There are a lot of variables and telling me that the boss and the person that was invited share a skin color doesn't begin to address those variables.

I have questions. The people that are invited to this annual event are they being awarded for something? Do they have the same title?
I believe issues are always better handled head on. I'd ask him flat out if there was a reason he was not inviting you to the event. Maybe he thinks you wouldnt want to go or would be uncomfortable.

Call out sick or perhaps your boss doesn't think u are the nature loving type. Thats all I got.
By the way how many others are going? If it's just one person I would think ether the boss is dating this person of having a affair with this person.

I wouldn't blame you for wanting to stay out of work to just get back at your boss. However, since he didn't invite you to the outing maybe he just doesn't care for you for some reason, and if you stay off work it may just piss him off and he might fire you. Is it worth losing your job over? Bc if it is...then go ahead and get revenge...However, it may backfire on you and the revenge may get turned on you! Good Luck! He doesn't sound like a very nice boss or very fair. Sorry you have to deal with someone like that.

That is rude, but may be he can't afford to close shop for a day and you're the only one he trusts to take over while everyone's away.
I'd talk to him, and at least ask if you can have a free day without having to burn up your vacation or sick time. This way you can spend it with your real friends and have more fun.

I don't think it's about race. I would probably think there are very few minorities at your job. You should ask on what bases are people being invited?

I think after it happened again this year I would ask him how he decides who goes on the outing and who doesn't.
If there's a Human Resource Dept.....that would be my first stop.
