The rules vary depending on what country you belong to, but if the hospital that you're trying to give blood to is following the current standards of the American Association of Blood Banks, it should be anywhere from 6months to a year from the time that you had your tattoo.

They usually make you wait 1 year. The last time I got a tattoo was about 7 years ago and I had to wait a year to donate blood. I think it is only 6 to 8 weeks for a piercing at least ears. Other piercings might also be a year.

The average wait would be a year. That is what the blood banks want you to wait. However, alot of people just wait 6-8 months, and say it was a year ago.

6 months.... go onto www.blood.co.uk and then click " who can donate" , then, where it says "find out more,click here" click it, and it gives u a little quiz and at the end tells u if u can give blood or not!!
