Asalam Walaikum,

Sister, I looked everywhere to answer your question! I have many Islamic books about rulings for women and this information, I got from a book entitled, "Instructions of Shariah for women" compiled by Wife of Zarif Ahmad Thanvi and approved by Dr. Abdul Hail 'Aarfi.

The below hadith mentions that it is allowed for a nursing mother to postpone her fast:

"It is reported by Anas bin Malik bin K'abi (pbuh) said, "Allah has remitted half the salah to the traveller and Fasting to him, to the woman who is suckling an infant and to the pregnant woman." (Mishkat.)

A note under the hadith also explains:
"Just as a patient and a traveller are permitted to postpone fasting during Ramadan so also the woman who breastfeeds an infant is allowed to postpne fasting if it will deprive the child of nourishment. However, it is unlawful for her to postpone fasting if the child can live on other food besides Mother's milk."

I hope this helps!

Salam!

If it's only for an afternoon or 2, it must be simply nice, I am presently breastfeeding my 10month historic daughter, and because of well being factors medical professionals have positioned me on a transparent liquid nutrition on a minimum of four separate situations, realizing that I used to be breastfeeding. When she used to be four days historic I wasn't allowed to consume for three days at the same time they attempted to make a decision whether or not or to not do surgical procedure. They simply stated to drink juice or broth to aid maintain my milk up. The intent folks say that it positioned pollutants on your milk, is that fasting is a well approach of enabling your frame to detox, and there's a very well hazard that any pollutants that your frame throws off, will grow to be on your milk. Fasting for best 12-24 hours despite the fact that isn't lengthy ample to your frame to detox giant quantities. Hope that is helping, if it's only for an afternoon you and your child must be simply nice, whether it is any further determine together with your healthcare professional. And do most likely drink tons of drinks and juice.

I can't identify the hadith, but I remember reading one that pregnant and nursing women and babies are exempt from the requirement to fast. Sustaining life is more important at certain phases of life.

It's great that you want to, but it's not good for your or your baby's healthy.

Fasting may indeed cause your milk to dry out, because you need to constantly supply your body the nourishment.

From personal experiences, I found I was not able to fast and breast feed at the same time. My daughter was six months old one year, I tried to fast. I found that my milk supply went WAY down, and she was not getting enough. I found her nursing almost constantly yet she was never satisfied. I also found myself not feeling that well as well. So, I decided to not fast.

If you fear for your child, then it is best that you don't fast. It is better to eat, then give her formula.
