Does it really matter? Christians don't go to church to just pray. We do that everyday, all day long. We enjoy fellowship, worship and singing praises to Our Lord on Sunday. Some also meet Wednesdays and Saturdays. However, the time spent in a building is not as important as how we live every moment of our lives.

God Bless.

Basic math:

30 x 5 = 150 minutes a day that Muslims are at prayer

150 x 7 = 1050 minutes a week

1050 / 60 = 17 r 30 hours a week

So, Muslims are forced to pray about 17 hours a week, where as the Christians might go to church on Sunday for 2 hours.

Yer point was......????

BTW, the prayer at the noon hour can run from 45 to 90 minutes long. I used 30 minutes as an average. during these times, no business is conducted, work is stopped and everything comes to a stand-still. Wonder why they're still living in the 1500's?

because christians waste their time passing a collection plate, singing, taking communion, talking about events the church is planning, let the choir sing s few hymns, take prayer requests, all in all if you minus all these non needed things the lesson itsself is only 30 minutes . i grew up christian. converted to islam 2 years ago. in a mosque there is no singing and wastes of time, we pray and thats it. there are no pews nothing just an open carpeted room where we pray and on sunday women have a 2 hours class talking about nothing but religion, and on friday muslims have an hour of lesson from the imam first in arabic then he gives the lesson again in english for the non arabic speaking believers, then we pray and leave. we believe if you stand around to talk you will end up gossiping and that is a sin. i know when i went to church everyone was spreading rumors after service " oh i cant believe she wore that." he came with who? he isnt married to her but they are living together" ms browns daughter in law had a baby but she doesnt believe it belongs to her son" sooooo many non needed conversations. so by keeping the mosque only for prayer and class there is non of the extra sin and we will be rewarded for that.

Except on Fridays, mosque for muslims is just to pray, no preachings.
Muslims mainly pray in the mosque when they were not at home or no place nearer to pray . We obliged to pray 5x a day. Each takes between 5 minutes to max 10 minutes.
Only on Fridays the malesobliged to pray together; even so the praying itself only takes max 15 minutes. There is a preaching on Friday, but that's not the important ones, after they pray some of them go home.

Out of the 5x/day which is a MUST, morning before sunrise, noon when sun right on "top", afternoon abt tea time, sunset, and after dark. We can pray as many times we want to out of that times but not compulsary.
The way we pray is set.
Du'a we can do the way we want to. Also we du'a and thanks everytime before take our meals, before bath/shower, before
get into car or any transport system, before having intercourse, before fall asleep, and we say salam (bless) anytime we meet our fellows muslims.

We do more prayings and du'a than other religions. But it's nice. I like it.

Edit :
Swords and smoke, dont make fitnah please.
It's showed badly who you are. I dont think Jesus would like you doing it if you are christian

i think the less time, the better, as the person will be encouraged to go the mosque. it was recorded that someone complained to prophet Muhammad that one of the preacher takes long time to preach. and prophet Muhammad was angry about it and dislike it, Islam recommended that there are people who have needs, and to make it short it's better. but if you want to set extra time after the prayer is done, then it's your choice and you get reward for it. Islam is ease.

Ridiculous isn't it? But, think about it. The Muslims must stick their butts towards their heaven 5 times a day. That is considerable more attention to their God than the Christians give theirs.

A lot of Christians need the extra hours because once they leave they will not think of their faith until they return the following week.
