Who do some Dr's feel the need to treat you like crap and act like they're better than you?

I went to the Dr today and everything I said he ignored and was completely rude about it. He basically told me you're saying all this is wrong but there's no proof... I thought the point of being a Dr was to listen to your patients not argue and condrict everything! He argues with me about my allergies to anti-biotics and everything now really WHY would I make that up?

All I wanted was to find oiut about getting an IUS done b/c my periods are getting so painful I'm crying and ready to pass out .. Why is it so f'ing hard for him to give me a referral?

I'm changing Dr's ... This is ridiculous

I know what you mean, my husband and I see the same pain Doctor, our appt's are always together and actually she is a new doc to us, but every time we go in, she always talks directly to my husband and not about his medical issue, but about cars, my husband is a mechanic and she has taken her car to his shop, so anyway when I start to address my issue's she looks at me like I am retarded or something and is very rude to me, she is also a diabetic, and she is anorexia thin, and was wearing a tiny mini shirt, and sandals, and her legs and toes were nasty gross, all bruised and scabby, her toes looked like they had been mangled with a chainsaw. I honestly felt like crap after leaving our last appt. I felt like my issue was less important and my husband was getting hit on in front of my face, and she was nasty looking, I can't believe they let her see patients looking like that, it's obvious she can't take care of herself much less other people who depend on her to help them, oh and the time before that she was sitting through our appt. eating a bowl of cereal, and didn't even hardly talk to either of us, she was acting like she was staving. Well Good Luck, we all need it as far as going to the doctor these days.

Obviously you need to change physicians. If I were you I would be very explicit about what is going on during my periods. Maybe you should even keep a diary. If you have to see an HMO because of your insurance then it's well known that keeping costs down is a priority for them. Be very prepared to explain your symptoms in such a way that leaves no doubt you need a referral to a Gynecologist.

I had a doctor like that, she even got to the point of telling me that no doctors are fighting for me as a patient because of my insurance, she was also treating me for depression and had the nerve to ask me "what the heck are you doing with your life??!" She took me off all the meds my previous doctor (who retired) prescribed me because SHE didnt like those medicines, even though they helped me.

I left the bleeping doctor and got a new one. Good luck and I hope you find a great new doctor :)

You go girl! No excuse for him not listening. Try going to a good old fashioned GP, gynocologists are arogant turds. Been on that exam table myself.

good luck....the patient is always right
