Mary Wollstonecraft (27 April 1759 – 10 September 1797) was a British writer, philosopher and feminist. During her brief career, she wrote novels, treatises, a travel narrative, a history of the French Revolution, a conduct book, and a children's book. Wollstonecraft is best known for A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792), in which she argues that women are not naturally inferior to men, but appear to be only because they lack education. She suggests that both men and women should be treated as rational beings and imagines a social order founded on reason.

BTW - SHE DID NOT WRITE FRANKENSTEIN. HER DAUGHTER MARY WOLLSTONECRAFT GODWIN SHELLEY WROTE FRANKENSTEIN.

She was a writer and feminist. She is best known as the mother of Mary Shelley -- who was the auther of FRANKENSTEIN and wife of the poet.

Her daughter would have been Mary Wollstonecraft until she became Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. It is possible that you are supposed to write about her.

She is a 17th century British feminist writer. She lead a pretty intense and progressive life. I could go on about her for pages....far more than five pages.

Check out the links.....they'll give you a great overview of wollstonecraft.

FYI....was reading through the other answers...Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley [of Frankenstein] are two different people......Shelley is Wollstonecraft's daughter.

Er, Jess, Mary W. was dead long before the 20th century and three years before the 19th. She died in 1797. You might recognize her as the mother of Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein. She is widely considered an Enlightenment thinker, and wrote extensively on the equality between women and men. She was not a Christian, but she was also not a deist. She probably would be Pagan, actually -- very enthralled by nature and felt that morals came from her own experiences and heart.

i think its mary shelley's maiden name. or maybe her mother.

Shelley was rumoured to be a lesbian, but was married to Percival Shelley who is a famous poet of the romantic genre. I think he drowned in a boating accident.

She wrote Frankenstein which is still famous today, although the details of the story and the way the monster is represented varies when films are made. The monster isnt even that evil at the beginning, just ugly, but it explores how life turned him bitter and his bad experiences like when his creator rejects him, made him kill people. It's compared to how sometimes people feel god turns aganst them if u happen to be reigious.

Oh i've just read that Wollstonecraft might be her mother! Anyway, hope that info is some use.
