I am glad you asked for a treatment and not a cure.

The best treatment is prevention!

Avoid heavy lifting, over or under exercise, overheating (too hot showers), restrictive clothing (other than specially designed preasure garments) etc.

If it is only mild, try taking a few really deep breaths, this can sometimes help with stimulating drainage.

Se a specially trained nurse or physiotherapist for correct lymphatic drainage massage, and instruction on use of preasure garments.

Mine is only mild and I find that a quick self massage (having been shown how) in the shower is enough to relieve symptoms most days.

Lymphedema can not be cured, but it can be managed. The treatment process includes something called Manual Decongestive Therapy (also called complex decongestive therapy). This is a gently massage therapy that moves the fluid out of the arm. Once the swelling is decreased, then you willl want to wear compression garments and/or use short-stretch compression wraps (bandages). Diet and exercise are also important parts of management.

Have your doctor get your a referral to a "certified" (important) lymphedema therapist.

My best to you.

The most successful treatments for lymphedema are management and education. Learn all you can do you know what you should do in certain situations (infection, bee sting, ect) and management would be finding a lymphedema therapist to perform Complete/Complex Decongestive Therapy on you. Therapists are specially trained to do bodywork similiar to a massage but in fact they manually push the fluid out of your body. It's a pleasant feeling. You are measured before and after the treatment then wrapped with short stretch bandages until your next treatment, you usually go in succession for awhile until the therapist feels you are the smallest she/he can get you, then you 'graduate' to home care. She/he will teach you proper skin care and possibly how to skin brush, how to do the massage bodywork yourself, and order you a compression sleeve for your arm which you will wear to maintain your size.

try and get hold of a lymphoedema nurse who can advise u. in the meantime try a pressure garment to encourage the fluid to flow back into the body rather than collecting in the arm;keep ur arm elevated on pillows when at rest or sleeping which also helps drainage. i'm not sure if gentle massage may also help but i would get that checked by ur surgeon if u can. lymphoedema can take quite a while to improve so keep trying if u can.
