What does unmodified mean in a word processing document?

I have Windows XP with Wordperfect 10 as my wordprocessor.
In Wordperfect 10, when I save a file, whether or not I have gone into it and edited it, it still says unmodified after the title of the document. How do I fix this?

Unmodified means since you last saved your document, not whether you ever modified the original document.

As you state, once you save it, then WP says it is unmodified.
